Crawfish Boil
SUNDAY, APRIL 14, 2019
12 noon - 4pm
(Big White Tent behind the Discovery Pyramid)
For the past 106 years, the Rotary Club of Galveston has subscribed to the motto "Service Above Self.”  And again this year to raise monies that will directly benefit the Galveston community's many vital humanitarian and educational projects and programs, the Club will host its 9th Annual Rotary Club of Galveston Crawfish Boil on Sunday, April 14.  Presented by the Dr. Leon Bromberg Charitable Trust Fund, this fun, family event will take place at Moody Gardens - between 12 noon - 4pm - under the Big White Tent behind the Discovery Pyramid.
The Lighthouse Charity Cooking Team will be back - under the direction of Scott Gordon and his talented crew - preparing a superb plate of Cajun-spicy crawfish, potatoes, onions and fresh corn on the cob. Also again this year, attendees can opt for specially-seasoned hot, boiled shrimp - if preferred.  Other popular options to round the menu include Lighthouse Dogs and barbeque beef-stuffed potato.  Beverages will include ice-cold beer, soft drinks and bottled water.
Crawfish plate tickets are $25 in advance; $30 at the door. Advance crawfish or shrimp plate tickets will be available at the Galveston Chamber of Commerce office, 2228 Mechanic Street (Suite #101), by calling the Chamber office at 409.763.5326, or purchasing on line at
For additional information about the event, contact Rotary Club of Galveston's Executive Secretary, Ulli Budelmann, at 409.939. 1224. Admission to the event is free.
For the past eight years, attendees have enjoyed live Zydeco music and rest assured this tradition will continue as the very popular Mustang and his Two-Steppin' Zydeco Band   will return by popular demand and perform throughout the afternoon. Another crowd favorite at this fun family event is the Zydeco Dance Contest and the competition will culminate with the crowning of the festival's Zydeco Dance King or Dance Queen. In addition to being "crowned", valuable prizes will be awarded to the winning King or Queen, as well as to winners in each category. The "Children's Crawfish Eating Contest", great raffles, the popular "Mud Bug Bounce" (aka Moon Walk), and more will round out the afternoon's activities for families and their children.
"Proceeds generated from this fundraising event (as well as monies raised from the Club’s upcoming  42nd annual Rotary Chili Supper held in November), will be distributed through the Rotary Club of Galveston’s Galveston Rotary Foundation, Inc. to in turn be distributed to Galveston organizations dedicated to improving our local community's health, education and welfare," noted Crawfish Boil Chair, Scott Livanec.
Look forward to a delightful afternoon of good food, live Zydeco music and the fellowship of family and friends!
