Leonard Woolsey, President, Southern Newspapers, Inc; and Publisher, Galveston Daily News, was the program for the February 9th Rotary Club of Galveston meeting.
His program -  highlighted by that fact that the Galveston Daily News turns 180 years old on April 11th - and all that our local paper has accomplished since its founding almost two centuries ago!  The Daily News will turn 180 years old - and being 180 is nothing to sneeze at. Woolsey noted: "Your local newspaper is not only older than the great state of Texas, but The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post, as well. Even The Houston Chronicle is a newbie compared to The Daily News, being founded up the road in 1901."   (photo by Robyn Bushong.)
