Leonard Woolsey, President, Southern Newspapers, Inc; and Publisher, Galveston Daily News, was the program for the February 9th Rotary Club of Galveston meeting.
His program - highlighted by that fact that the Galveston Daily News turns 180 years old on April 11th - and all that our local paper has accomplished since its founding almost two centuries ago! The Daily News will turn 180 years old - and being 180 is nothing to sneeze at. Woolsey noted: "Your local newspaper is not only older than the great state of Texas, but The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post, as well.
