Annual participation with the Grand Kids Festival. The Club gives away bike helmets to children.

The 1894 Grand Opera House hosts a Grand Kids festival each year to promote the importance of engaging children in the Arts. Community groups are invited to have booths with health related materials and/or crafts for children. 10 years ago, the Rotary Club of Galveston decided that this would be a GRAND opportunity to provide education to children (and their parents) about the safety of wearing a bike helmet when riding a bike, using a skateboard, etc. The Club decided that providing bike helmets was a great way to do this as part of a vulnerable populations initiative. This year, the Club gave away 864 helmets. A sticker with the Club name and Rotary logo is added to the helmets.
