Club members participated in painting a trash receptacle that will be placed on the beach as part of Beautify the Bucket (an Artist Board Initiative).
Artist Boat is a Galveston organization that focuses on protecting the Gulf Coast through conservation and fun, educational, inspiring adventures that spark creativity, awareness and action such as exploring nature and creating eco-art. Annually, Artist Boat sponsors a Beautify the Bucket competition for local organizations and individuals to paint a trash receptacle. Each group is assigned a theme. This year, the Rotary Club of Galveston participated. We were assigned the theme, Galveston Recreational activities. The six Club members who participated decided that the 2018 logo for "Be the Inspiration" looked like the kind of wave that surfers want, and surfing is one of many Galveston recreational activities. The barrels encourage proper disposal of trash. The event took place at one of the business of one of the Club's members.
