Let's pack the Ballroom!

Coming up next at Spindletop Rotary...LET'S PACK THE BALLROOM!!! #NOSEATLEFTBEHIND

District 5910 Governor John Hathaway will be joining us on Tuesday 8/28/18 to discuss his initiatives for his Rotary year!

In Meeting Project and a guest that knocked our socks off!
At our 8/21/18 meeting, we held our first In Meeting Project hosted by Service Project Committee Chair Pierce Harrington. We put together an assembly line of water, snacks, hygiene products and more to stuff inside of a fresh new pair of socks to distribute to the homeless in lieu of cash. Everyone took some home and has hit the streets with their donations! If you are interested in a few to keep in your vehicle, please see Karen Chapman!

We can't wait to host our next In Meeting Project!
Aside from our IMP, we had a visiting Rotarian join us from the Rotary Club of Hubli North, Dr. Nagaraj Shetti.
Dr. Shetti is a visiting engineering professor here at Lamar University for a few weeks and dropped by to
tell us about the wonderful initiatives and projects his club hosts. Some of their projects are
supplying clean water, educational grants, mentor programs and more!
It's always amazing to hear about other Rotarians and how much alike we are despite the miles between us!

How many committee members does it take to change a light bulb?
It's our new Rotary year and you know what that means!!

For the last two meetings we have been taking sign ups for committees. We still have MANY members that have not signed up yet!

As a club committee member you help make your club a successful, thriving, and fun place. Whether you have been appointed as a committee chair or serve as a committee member, you can help your club improve your communities and develop leaders.

We are currently accepting committee members for the following committees:

Membership
Rotary Foundation
Fundraising
Service Projects
Programs
Socials
Soapbox Derby
RYLA/Interact
and more!!!

Please do your best to remember that as Rotarians, we collectively pledge to tackle some of the world’s biggest challenges, locally and globally. We are united by common values and vision for the future as we sharpen our focus with targeted specific causes that will reach communities most in need. By joining a committee for 2018-2019, we ensure you will get the most out of your Rotary service!

Coming Soon....
We are in the planning stages for our Girls Haven Gumbo Cookoff 2018 and it's time to bring out your best recipe! Jade is hosting a "tasting" party at her home on Tuesday 9/11/18 in the evening. If you think you have the winning gumbo recipe, be watching for more information about the tasting!
Ready, Set, Grow!

In June, Rene' Latiolas issued out "Guest Cards" for each member to hand out to a potential guest!
The cards are good for one use per guest, and more are available from both Rene' or Heather at any
time. Let's put those guest cards to use! Who knows.....the person that submits the most may just
get a little something special!
