Joe Hamilton spoke about the Breathing For Life project—launched by Joe and a Rotarian from the Castro Valley Club. This project is the  single largest Global services project ever in the history of our club. It grew to $500k  value in total, and was hatched by a chance encounter between Joe and Obsi (a Castro Valley red-badger at the time), who had a desire to help bring an oxygen canister generating facility to her home town in Ehtiopia. The project gained support from Canada and Assist International, which allowed for a full-scale plat to be built, producing 1800 oxygen cylinders per month. Before this plant was operational, doctors were routinely having to ration the supply of oxygen, leaving many very young or very sick patients to die unnecessarily due to oxygen deprivation. What a difference this project has made!
