Personal Talk: Peter Landsberger – was born in LA and lived mostly on the west side.. It was 1960 and he wanted so badly to attend UC Berkeley. He attended first Santa Monica City College to stay home and help his family first. He then attended law school and went back down south again to practice law. He married his childhood sweetheart. In the late 70s, community colleges were hiring their own attorneys as in-house counsel. In 1978 he moved to Los Altos Hills to work for the Foothill-De Anza Community College District. By the 80s they had two daughters. He resigned his position and began his own law firm. He was then hired back as a Dean of the Business Division. He then left to work for the College of San Mateo. He went back to LA for a two year position, which turned into six years with the LA CCD. In 2011, he turned his attentions to serving non-profit boards. He then ran for the FHDA CCD Trustee seat and won in 2015 and currently serves in this position. Check out the full presentation by clicking here.

This weeks speakers were introduced by: John Stubblebine

Program: History of Hewlett Packard by Webb McKinney and Philip Mesa. They discussed how they came to write the book and portions of the history that are referenced in the book. HP used to be based upon the “HP Way”, which was based on trust and respect in your people, unquestioned integrity in all things they did, and giving back especially in the area where do business. However, that “HP Way” went by the wayside due to major changes that came about during periods of growth. The speakers took questions. Management by wondering around was asked about. Of course, in the current environment, this style of management is not as possible. HP changed over time due to many forces and did not take place under any one leader.
