Inspiration: Josh Selo read a poem entitled “Two Kinds of People” by Ella Wheeler Wilcox.  The poem is about  those who lift and those who lean.  Those who lean burden others with cares and needs while lifters lighten everyone’s load. Josh concluded by saying he was so happy to be in the company of so many lifters.

Announcements:
PP Larry Dean announced that the nomination committee will be meeting in July to consider people to fill three director positions and other specific positions for the 2018-19 club year.  To find out more about the qualifications and duties of these positions, talk to PP Larry, President Judy, or PP Wendell Stephens.

PE John Zirelli reminded members to pay their dues for the next year as soon as possible as a courtesy to our club secretary and others so they do not have to call members with a reminder.

April Bignell asked for additional volunteers to install a storage shed at JW House from 9-4 on Saturday June 24.  The shed will free up pantry space so JW House can better serve families going through medical crises.

PP Wendell Stephens reminded members to register by June 25 for the kick out for President Judy on June 28 at the Monta Vista High School cafeteria.  He promised it would be a fun event for all.

Bev Lenihan invited members to play Bocce Ball at Blackberry Farm from 5-7 on June 23.  She emphasized that there was no “botch” in Bocce so participants can have a great time even if they have never played before.  Just bring an appetizer or desert to share and a beverage of your choice.

On behalf of PP Hung Wei, President Judy reminded members that the annual Relay for Life will be held from 10am July 15 to 10am July 16.  The event raises money for cancer research, care, and education.  Cupertino Rotary has made a donation so participants just need to walk and enjoy each other’s company.  The 24 hours is broken up into six four-hour blocks with a team for each block.  If you would like to be a team captain or participate on a team, contact Hung.

Presidents Corner/Updates:

President Judy said that the club is looking for some members to man a hydration booth at the CEEF 5k fun run on Saturday August 26.  If you are interested please contact Judy.

Judy also talked about her experience at this year’s Rotary International Conference in Atlanta. She said Bill Gates was there and pledged an additional $400,000,000 to polio eradication.  With additional pledges from Rotarians, a total of almost one billion dollars was raised for the final push to end this disease.  Judy said it was truly inspirational to be at the conference with 32,000 other Rotarians.  She encouraged other club members to consider attending the 2018 conference in Toronto.

Chuck Harper reported on the very successful day of spring cleaning and other work for WVCS last Saturday.  Chuck said that there were over 35 volunteers from Rotary, Interact, and Inner Wheel with all 35 working together to accomplish a lot.  He thanked all those who volunteered.
