CREF Scholarship report

When Rotarian Pat Jackson died in 2015 her husband Jim and family established a scholarship through CREF for a De Anza student who wanted a career as a teacher, as teaching was in Pat’s family genes . The first scholarship was awarded last week to Diego Gome who will enter San Francisco State in the fall with the intention to become a professor. Diego is an amazing student who turned his GPA at De Anza from 1.3 to 3.74 and will be the Commencement speaker at the De Anza commencement on June 30  The $7000 he will receive at SFSU from this Rotary Jackson family scholarship will go a long way toward meeting his first year’s fees and costs.
