Angela A. McConnell

For the past 10 years, Angela has served as the Chief Executive of Montalvo Arts Center, a century old, international multidisciplinary arts center and artist residency located in Saratoga, California. In this role, she has forged mutually beneficial strategic collaborations in the visual and performing arts, increased the operating budget from $4.5 million to more than $7 million, significantly increased the audience, tripled earned income, expanded education and outreach programs, stabilized the institution’s budget, established a permanent endowment, and built one of the strongest nonprofit Boards in Silicon Valley.

Prior to arriving at Montalvo, McConnell served as Executive Director of the Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) in Mountain View. In this role, McConnell spearheaded a $12.4 million capital campaign, which led to the construction of CSMA’s first permanent facility and established it as one of the 10 largest community schools of its kind in the nation.

She was recognized as the 2005 Fundraiser of the Year for Silicon Valley by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the 2006 Athena Business Woman of the Year from the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce, and as one of the Valley’s 100 Women of Influence for 2012 by the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal.

McConnell grew up in Bedford, New York. She received a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Music and Art History from Manhattanville College in New York, and an M.A. in Nonprofit Administration from the University of San Francisco.

She is passionate about the importance that access to and engagement in the arts and creativity has on individual wellbeing and success, as well as its critical role in communities and in society.

Angela lives in Los Altos with her three children, including an incoming Saint Francis Freshman and an alum, who is a senior at Boston College.
