2021-22 Leadership - BOD

President  Rod Sinks

I joined Cupertino Rotary in 2011 and value the opportunities for inspiration, fellowship and service. At the end of 2020, I will finish nine years of service in local government on the city council, the Air District, Silicon Valley Clean Energy and the Cities Association. Next year, I look forward to focusing my energy and passion on our club.
Secretary, Dana Stern
I work for Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara as a Health Educator focusing on Pediatric and Women’s Health and live in an Eichler home in Sunnyvale which I restored 8 years ago. I enjoy  traveling, entertaining with friends, cooking and my pets. I am moved by nature, and have  my own beehive and garden to attract pollinators and birds. I joined Cupertino Rotary in 2014 because I enjoy being engaged with others and want to contribute to the greater good. I look forward to serving as Secretary  this year.
Director George Denise
I first attended Rotary as a Boy Scout.  I was impressed and thought I might join someday.  In 1990, I joined the South San Francisco Club and was active until I was transferred to San Jose.  In 2014, I joined the Cupertino club, as my wife and I own a ski shop in Cupertino.  We’ve been married 44 years and have three grown sons and four grandchildren.  I’m a retired commercial property and sustainability manager for Oracle.  I’m a volunteer in Scouting and enjoy hiking, traveling, genealogy, and restoring my ‘63 Porsche.

Strategic Development Officer, Joe Hamilton

I joined Rotary in 1993 and transferred to Cupertino Rotary in 2017.  I am a Past District Governor for District 5170 and Past Assistant Coordinator for Zone 26. I am the district representative for the R.I. 2022 Legislative Council. In Cupertino Rotary I am the Past Chair for World Community Services and active in the Membership Committee. I serve on the club Board of Directors and the CREF Board. As the SDO, my role is to guide the Board and the club top leadership in strategic measures and discussions. I retired as Superintendent of Schools for the Fremont Union High School District in 2002 after 38 years in education. My wife Kathi and I have lived in Cupertino for the past 25 years.

Director Alysa Sakas

I joined Rotary in 2016 after long admiring what our club does. I studied Computer Engineering at U of M (Go Blue!) -  now a retired Space Systems Engineer.  I'm also active in the Cupertino-Toyokawa sister cities program and in 4H (bee keeping).  I'm excited to serve as this year's chair for World Community Services. The magnitude of each project enabled by a TRF grant is astounding, and our opportunities to travel are truly unique because we connect with people in other countries in ways beyond being tourists.

I joined Rotary in 2011 after working in high tech and elementary education. I love working with technology, reading traveling and biking.  I am looking forward to leading our club in this challenging year and having all our members see the opportunities our club has to offer in service and fellowship

CREF President, Jo Lucey

I joined Rotary in 2016 after a career in aerospace engineering (satellites and satellite operations) and a second career as an elected official in public education.  I’m the parent of two IPOs (Income Producing Offspring) whom I adore.  My husband and I love hiking and enjoy traveling.  I’ll be leading the CREF organization and look forward to working with everyone as we ‘do good in the world.

Fund Development Officer, Kathy Yates
I first got to know Cupertino Rotarians in 2009, while traveling to India to visit several Cupertino Rotary international service partners and do some sightseeing. At the time, I was  about to become CEO of an educational software company in San Francisco, so I didn’t have the time to join the club then. But, it was one of the first things I did when I retired in 2015. I am currently the sponsor of a Global Grant  to provide a mobile dental clinic project in Chile, and also serve as Chair of the Fund Development committee. Rotary enriches my life: I’ve made many friendships through Rotary and travelled to interesting parts of the world.
Director, Annie Ho
I joined Rotary in 2012 after working as a Sr. Systems Analyst and then as a CA RE Broker working  for my own company. I admire Rotary’s excellent mission and doing actions to support the local and  the world needed people and projects! That drew me to join this wonderful Rotary family! I love to  serve above self to help people and have done the services for the local communities and for Rotary  Vocational Services and World Community Services and Affinity Groups.

Director, Janelle Breen

Aloha, my Rotary Career started in 2002 as an interactor in Hawaii, I continued in Rotoract while at Santa Clara, becoming District Governor in 2015-16. I have served in numerous district functions including the Richard King Speech contest and Big West Rotoract Director. I became a Rotarian with Cupertino in 2017 and am excited to serve on the board to further our ties with Rotoract Clubs and help our club provide opportunities for younger Rotarians.

Director, Leslie Hay

Director, Sunil Nethisinghe

I decided to become a Cupertino Rotarian in 2007, after participating in a number of Rotary activities with my brother in the UK. Since retiring from the Semiconductor industry, I have been an active Rotarian, including chairing/co-chairing the Silicon Valley Fall Festival for five years.  I initiated the High School Fine Art Exhibition, the Robotics Competition for Fremont Union High School District students, and created the first Fall Festival website. As a long-time student and practitioner of mindfulness, I initiated the Mindful Rotarians Affinity group and continue to conduct classes to help people in the community improve their wellbeing.

Chief Financial Officer  Jeff Moe

I joined Cupertino Rotary in 2012, but have been connected with Rotary all my life by virtue of my dad's life-long active involvement in Rotary.  My favorite club activities include Rebuilding Together and social events.  I service as a Trustee on the Fremont High School District board and as such am involved in school-related programs sponsored by Rotary such as the annual art exhibit and poetry contest.

President Eleect Steve Onishi

I joined Rotary in 2010 while working in Marketing for a medical device company (cardiology). I have since transitioned to working in the non-profit sector as an Encore Fellow. My passions include technology, travel, working out, and designing, planning, and executing home projects.  I am excited to be President Elect and  support our Club's commitment to service and fellowship.
