Cathy C. - “What is Rotaract?” major changes coming July 1, formally established as a type of Rotary club – 18 years old on up, no limit.  Can sponsor other new Rotaract clubs.  Continued access to trainings and other RI events.

1. They are now a type of Rotary membership
2. Rotaract clubs will now be able to sponsor other Rotaract Clubs, or establish themselves without a sponsor.
3. Rotaract will be open to all young adults 18 and over.  There will not longer be an upper age limit of 30.
4. Rotaractors are now eligible to serve on district-level and RI committees.
5. Rotaractors will enjoy greater support, training, and access to Rotary tools.
6. In 2022,  Rotaractors will pay annual per capita dues of either $5.00 or $8.00. 
7. The Trustees encourage Rotaract clubs to work with Rotary clubs on global grant projects, which was not an option up until now.
8. As in the past, Rotaractors can still apply for scholarships and Rotary Peace Fellowships through the RI Foundation.
9. Rotaractors are not automatically Rotarians.
10. Rotaractors can have dual memberships, if they find a club that offers the experiences they want at any time.

 

Born 1/12/1971 in Mankato, middle child between brother and sister, then moved with family to Detroit Lakes.

 

Went to Catholic school – fun fact: earned a trip to the ER for stitches from a well-placed Nun’s ruler.

 

Played football, swimming, and golf in school; graduated from Detroit Lakes high school in 1989; then off to St. John’s on a Polish Scholarship; transferred to Morehead junior year.

 

Upon graduation entered the real estate industry and lending, but not before a stint in the bar/restaurant/hospitality industry.

 

Owned the Sportsman Pub near U of M campus for a while.

 

Did a lending stint in Chicago.

 

Very passionate about his mortgage lending career, loves to help folks purchase homes.  23 years in and wouldn’t change a thing.

 

Wife of 12 years Amber and 11.5-year-old daughter Jozee.

 

Son of a 40+ year member Detroit Lakes Rotarian in his father.

Q&A: preview of thoughts for presidency year – very much looking forward to it, attending PETS really opened his eyes, focused on participation, programming, and giving back to the community.

 

Q&A: Scott’s Johnson knew that Chris would be a future club president after success running the fundraising team.

 

Q&A: Ron U. excited about Chris’s upward lending limit of $6MM, looking to get on Lake Minnetonka.  Not sure Mary knew this was the plan, but it’s a great plan!

 

Q&A: Land Home Financials’ reach is national, has closed deals all over the nation, but predominantly locally in Minnesota.

 

Q&A: Thoughts on remote/virtual work going forward – already has seen a shift just with entrance of more millennials into the field, but likely will stay the course as they’re busy as ever in the mortgage lending industry.  May 2020 was just his best month ever in 24 years of lending.

 

Q&A: Best drink served as bartender/bar-owner – makes a good Manhattan, Captain Morgan smoothies, other crazy concoctions.

 

Q&A: How Chris met Amber – from Frazee, 5 mins from DL, 9-year age difference; met after Chris’s stint in Chicago and Amber’s stint in San Diego; then recruited her to do loan origination; then recruited her as a girlfriend.
