Bob H. : 79 golfers signed up, with 4 more for sure and so we’re full.

Tony N. : November 17 fundraiser for the young man Mateo who presented to the club last year who had autism and used a spelling board to communicate. Looking for donations and other help with the fundraiser. She lives in CA, so logistics for the

event are challenging.

Cathy C.: Get her info on your baskets so she knows what is arriving on the day of the golf event.

Nate R. : Get him your make up info or attendance at meetings for him to track.

Nancy D. : Sojourners Project 40th Anniversary event Sept 19 at Brookview.

Happy Bucks

Ryan J. is happy for being done with note taking for another year.

Chris C. is happy for the 1st place MN Twins.

Jim M. is happy for college drop off in CO, and for Tony making sure the CRV made it there, and last day of Jr. High student.

Patty A. is happy for son’s 2nd year at McAllister, and her second oldest as a senior in HS…empty nest is close.

Char M. is happy for all our educators and encourages all to put in a happy buck for the same.

Jennifer S. is happy for Dr. Bob giving her a good eye checkup.

Darlyne E. is happy to be here and enjoyed the Ridgedale library tour and social afterwards.

Regina R. is happy to be back from family’s 82nd family reunion.

Carolyn A. is happy for all the happy birthday wishes from the club, and 16 went to Vegas and they all came home last night.

Alex F. is happy for students back to school, Jennifer gave a great HEF speech last week, kids are all in school today.

Therese K. is happy to be back from vacation, Amsterdam was interesting. Isabel made the ballet company at dance. Jacob and she are off to Ohio tomorrow.

Scott R. is happy because her daughter is 26, moving to Chicago today…but also sad she’s moving.

Mike G. is happy to be part of Mtka Rotary because it’s big and engaging. Jerald's staff was great.

Jerald S. is happy his kids are in school…mixed results after day-one.

Ann W. is happy because she had a great weekend at the cabin.

Mark M. is happy he doesn’t have to drive Pau to school every day.

Ron U. is happy but Ryan missed what it was for.

Alexa R. enjoyed the library tour, and Nolan thought PE was really boring yesterday, and Nate’s first day at his new job.

Chris R. drove his daughter out west, spent some time with his cousin and learned about his grandparents, thanks to Tony for making sure the car would make it, really enjoyed Bumbershoot in Seattle.

Mark F. happy for back to school – lots of family educators, went to lake Tahoe last weekend.

Stacey Q. is happy for kids in school and for all educators, and for our program today.

Program

Jacob M. introduced Dan Makey from Feed My Starving Children (FMSC).

Christian based, with a goal of getting food to all the hungry kids across the world.

Founded in Minneapolis and still headquartered here.

Donations are primarily from individuals, but also from business and churches. They get no government funding.

Donations are used to buy bulk quantities of food = i.e. 2,000 lb bags of rice

Food packing is entirely done by volunteers who make the assembly line to pack.

Vitamins, dehydrated vegetables, soy, rice as ingredients.

Each bag contains 6 servings.

Each bag of food costs $1.44 to produce.

Once food is packed, they work with 50 distribution partners who handle the shipping which cost is paid for by missions and humanitarian organizations and they distribute it to 70 countries…avoiding customs who make the distribution challenging.

All the food goes international because malnutrition is not on the list of major death causes in the United States. We have food programs that other countries do not have.

91-92% of all donations go into the food. About 30% of the food goes to Haiti but other distributions depend on distribution partners.

Don’t need to be Christian to pack the food, or participate in any way and food recipients are not all Christian. The organization is Christian based in its mission but does not require its partners to be.

Refugee camps have been a focus in the past but more and more they are focusing on delivering to humanitarian crisis locations, as well as to natural disaster locations.

Goal of 370 million bags of food in 2019 and 1.4 million volunteers this year. School year has many student volunteers and summers are slower.

6,200 children die each day from under-nutrition.

FMSC buys handmade goods from recipients of their food and sells them on their marketplace to help create economic sustainment for those locations.
