Announcements
 
Jennifer S. - Spring volunteer opportunities pending with FreeBikes4Kids and Treehouse as well as partner with ICA for USPS Food Drive in May.
 
Char M. - Selling St. Patrick’s Day beads, $2, for Polio Jug
 
Nate R. - MRC Board meeting will be on March 25 via Zoom. MRC received a $500 District grant for our public image. Thanks to Alyssa for filling out application. We will purchase an upscale microphone with the grant.
 
Nancy D. and Alexa R. -  Ukrainian Support.   Nancy and Alexa connected with the Chanhassen Rotary Club. They are partnering with the Mekolc Rotary Club in Hungary to support humanitarian efforts for Ukrainian refugees.
 
MRC will wire $2,800 to the Mekolc Rotary Club. They will in turn purchase medical supplies, in bulk, and deliver to the refugees. We are thankful to be able to support this partnership.
 
To note, there are 62 Rotary Clubs and 6 satellite clubs in Ukraine.
 
Jerald S. -  Minnetonka Rotarians raised $9,000 this year for the Polar Plunge that took place on Saturday, March 12.
 
After five years, MRC has raised a total of $25,012 for Special Olympics. Wow!
Congrats to all the brave jumpers who participated on Saturday AND a special shoutout to Alissa for her solo jump into Lake Harriet early Saturday morning.

Frank B. - Thankful for all the great people in the world who are working hard to help others in need.
 
Jerald s. - Thanks to all the plungers and the $9,000 raised for Special Olympics. Thankful that all three children participated in Junior Achievement.
 
Bill S. - Thankful to have participated in the 5th year of the Polar Plunge, enjoyed the party at Tuttle’s on March 15 and appreciated Mike Glover picking up the tab.
 
Tony N. - Excited to visit his family in Washington for Spring Break, grateful for his new employee and shared that there are more good people than bad people in our world.
 
Chris R. - Thankful seeing his son play hockey in person, that his cousin living in Ukraine is safe, winning Happy Bucks, that his daughter is enjoying life in Barcelona and that Tony made sure his Yukon was safe to travel.
 
Ann W. - Enjoyed a two-week vacation with family in Fort Meyers, Florida and then took the long way home, stopping in Nashville and St. Louis.
 
Lenny N. - His granddaughter, Alivia, celebrated her 17th birthday.
 
Alissa O. - Thankful for being here, the Polar Plunge and her upcoming trip to Hawaii.
 
Alexa R. - Polar Plunge was great, and she appreciates Jerald and Lenny taking care of Nolan.

Junior Achievement
Guest Speakers: Marissa and Sam
Mission: To inspire and prepare young people to succeed in global economy.
JA offers both in school and out of school programs based on Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship and Work and Career Readiness for students in K – 12th grade. Different programs include:

JA for a Day
JA Finance Park and BizTown
JA Career Speakers
JA Record Kindness Videos
 
64,000 students attended one of the many programs offered by JA and 88% stated the programs positively impacted them.
 
JA teaches the basics of how to be an adult in life to include: creating a budgets, figuring out what you want to do, realizing your skills and delving in to entrepreneurship.
 
Programs are funded by donors and sponsors so they are free of cost for students.          
 
Volunteers are key and JA is always looking for additional volunteers to assist in working with the students.
 
JA North has a fundraiser called bigBowl which takes place throughout the year. Any business or nonprofit can host a bigBowl to raise funds for JA.
