What to do in an active shooter situation - video
1. Run, 2. Hide, 3. Fight
Observe Exits
Orient
Decide
Awareness - Be prepared
Run - leave everything behind, get away from danger, continue to get away outside
Hide -Lock the door, barricade. The harder it is for someone to get in, the more likely they'll move somewhere else, turn off the lights, spread out, prepare to counter.
Counter - last resort - find things to disrupt the shooter, grab things and throw, swarm the intruder and secure the weapon with multiple people
Call 911 ASAP - They will want to know how many shooters, what do they look like
Keep the phone line on so they can listen.
Police Response - They are looking for the Shooter; do not distract them. Leave with hands open and follow their instructions. Drop the weapon.
