Program

Jacob introduced the speaker Russ Michaletz the District Governor.

Russ made a spirited presentation with the following key points:

There has been a major effort in updating the Vision and Strategic plan for the District.  The four key elements are 1) Increased Impact of Rotary, 2) Expand the reach of Rotary, 3) Increase the engagement of Rotary and 4) Make Rotary easier to do business with.

He indicated that Mark Mahoney the incoming International Rotary president has the following areas of focus: Focus on growth; Make Rotary family friendly; Focus on new members and help develop younger Rotary leaders.

Russ' current focus in to improve Rotary retention.  We need to understand what keeps members in Rotary.  Need to recognize that joining Rotary and staying in Rotary is more of an emotional issue that practical issue.  He suggested we need to increase the focus on how we can help other Rotarians be successful (in addition to the good service work we do).  Need to understand that some self interest is a good thing.

Suggested facilitating a Club within a Club for like minded members that may have a specific goal or interest. Always stress the importance of the Four Way Test.
