Program
Ann and David with The Redemption Project. (TRP) Ann is a Waseca MN Rotarian.
TRP serves the incarcerated. She is the Volunteer Women’s coordinator. David does community outreach and job placement. TRP’s main goal is to re-unite families. Prison leads to family separation which harms the person and ultimately the community.
TRP does not advocate for early release, but gets involved at 18 months before release. It is a student-associate relationship prior, and a community partner for 90 days after. Those relationships are meant to turn the client in a new direction, and not slip back.
Housing, mental health, food, transportation, driver license are other collaborations.
Dwight Tostenson is the architect of TRP. The teaching is a Socratic method called Pathways for Success. The client discovers his own truths, and leaves the past behind. National and MN recidivism rates are about 70%, and TRP rates are 11%; a huge difference.
Why TRP matters? The partner is fully invested, stays in constant touch after release.
Why TRP works? Learning and change starts early, ongoing program before and after, skills, camaraderie, dialogue, job connections lead to a lifelong change.
The end result is to be back in a family relationship, and break the pattern with the next generations.
Thank you, Ann and David, for the fantastic work you dedicate yourselves to. 9 out of 10 success stories, compared to without your work, is remarkable. ‘What you do makes a huge difference.
