Club Assembly
Each committee made a brief report on its activities
Sara E. - Club Service. We are booked through May with speakers. Every member is encouraged to find and introduce a speaker.
Bill S. - Membership. The next planning meeting is Tuesday, Feb 13 at The Bear Cave in Hopkins, This is for another open house night for new members. On Tuesday May 7th, 5:00 to 7:00. We brought in 12 new members in the past year!
Ann W. - Fundraising, our main event, where we raised $45,000 last year. EVERY member takes part in Links and Libations. Lots of room on the planning committee, starting sometime in the Spring.
New people and new ideas are welcome. Ann is stepping aside as the chair, but will be a strong guide.
Chris R. - Club Foundation. Not only in the District, but we are well-known in RI. We gave $600 per member last year, and have reached our goal for this year. Paul Harris awards were given today to Jim Martin (PH+1) and Bill (PH+5). $1000/year donation for Paul Harris Club.
Bob H. - Community Service, with Beth Young.
Our next project is our 2nd Blood Donation Drive on Tuesday, April 23 here at The Marsh. Alicia from Memorial Blood will be our speaker on April 17. We’d like to double our 50 pints from Nov to pass 100 pints for the year. This a Rotary/Marsh combined effort.
Other projects mentioned, Alexa’s survey will guide our future service projects.
STRIVE, a Rotary program for challenged HS youth may be our “next big thing”
As we’ve already said, every member is part of the Service committee. YOU can pick and Champion a project dear to your heart.
Alexa R. - Social committee; the next several events and dates are;
Feb 12; Charter Night dinner at Ann’s home; 6:00 (?)
Feb 13; Bear Cave Membership planning; 5:00
Feb 27; Hoagies Give-Back breakfast 7:00 AM
Mar 9; training for Polar Plunge Tavern #4 and #5, EP. Time for that and plunge TBA
Mar 11; St Patrick’s Irish dinner at Char’s home, the Moline Apartments
Mar 26; Bowling at Tuttles
Apr8 18’ Evening at Ryan’s Jewelry Store
Chris Carr - Chris is heading up our Rotary Student Exchange program, after many years led by Mark Magney, We hope to have a student in place by next fall. Members can help with helping host the student, and even if not, spending time on activities, tours etc.
Mark Marlin - Mtka Summerfest June 22. Will need a big turnout for that day.
Mike G. - Club Foundation. Zoom meetings are monthly, all members welcome. $33, 627 to give out this year, more next year as we are essentially spending 2020 Covid $$ now.
Mac H. - Treasurer’s Report. We are just about on track for spending goals, or a little ahead. Mac tells us we are 6.9% happier with Happy Bucks than last year.
Great meeting, lots to do and talk about, the message was clear; all members can help in all areas.
To paraphrase President Kennedy, “Ask what you can do for your Rotary Club”
