Loves his job, working collaboratively with colleagues, member of the Problem Solvers Caucus (91 members thus far).
His mission is to encourage respect and collaboration.
Advises audience to consider running for public office. Nolan R. declines.
Questions:
Mac H. -- "Government repair truck?” A: 1950's Metro Van, former ice cream truck, uses in parades. A/C unit broken off roof by well meaning intern.
Bonnie W. -- State vs Federal campaign finance reform? A: No PAC contributions, distinctions between lobbyists and access to Representatives, broken campaign finance system, too much time fundraising, perpetual fundraising.
Focus on process: Mitch McConnell will not bring Bills to the floor for discussion, electoral reform and voting protection, Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon oversees one of the best voting systems and cyber threats still exist.
Chris R. -- Goals? A: Ethics Committee, foreign affairs, voter protections, health care reform, Third District – highest turnout at voting, supports public option, visited Texas border and was appalled by conditions in McCallen, Texas, some improvement since, will work for Immigration Reform.
Regina R. -- Russians influence? Love your shoes!, trying for years on social media, be aware of Nikita Khrushchev, turning Americans against one another, President Trump further divides – doing Russia’s work for them, China – intellectual property theft.
Darlene E. -- “I visit your office with students each year.”
Frank B. -- Local Office 394 & 494? A: $1.3 Million budget, 18 "underpaid" staff, considering mobile office to solve problems for constituents.
Bob H. -- Deficit and national debt? A: Fiscal responsibility, $23T national debt
and $1T deficit ($400B Interest).
Ron U. -- What can we do? A: Letters to the editor, speak with friends, Rep. Mitch M. is the bottleneck.
