Program

Giving WoMN – October 7, 2020

Mission - The purpose of Giving WoMN is to nurture women’s leadership in philanthropy by engaging and educating our members, increasing charitable contributions and strengthening our community through the impact of collective giving.

Who We Are - Giving WoMN is a member driven, pooled fund, grant making organization.  We aim to educate women about philanthropy and make impact grants in our community (the seven metro area) to address pressing needs.  Giving WoMN makes grants in the area of education, health and human services.

We hold a number of meetings throughout the year.  At our annual spring meeting, board members report results and financials to our members and recent grant recipients discuss their work.  In the fall, our “Eye Opener” meeting is designed to bring awareness and educate our membership about social issues in our community.

Past grant recipients also communicate results in smaller social gatherings across the metro throughout the year.  To date we have donated 1.6 million dollars.
Giving WoMN began with 10 women in 2005 and has grown to 125 women.  Each member gives $1100 a year; $100 of that amount goes to administrative fees.  Our grant recipient organizations are nominated by members and a membership-wide vote determines the amount and recipients of our grants each year after a thorough vetting process.
