Jerald S.  - brought his daughter, Vanessa who is home for the holiday from college in Arizona.  She’s a 4.0 student, and woke up in time to join us today.  Jerald likes ham at Christmas.

 

Cathy C. - is going to a Minnesota basketball game to see her friend, Jamison Battle.  Cathy Carlson also remarked how helpful police officers were in explaining the extra caution drivers of white vehicles must take when driving the in the fog. She was with Tony Newman at the time Tony was pulled over. Cathy likes all holiday foods.

 

Tony N. - said that he thought he was being pulled over for rolling through a stop sign.  He reported that he’s been pulled over 3 other times while traveling with customers.

 

Bill S. - will celebrate the holidays with all 5 family members – the 1^st time all 5 have been together in 5 years.  Bill likes fondue.

 

Char M. - introduced the club via photo to her 6^th great-grandchild.  Char likes appetizers.

 

Jim M. - is excited about his kids arriving for the holiday.  Jim likes Christmas booze.

 

Bob H. - said that when he was younger he would go to midnight mass with his grandmother.  After midnight mass, they’d gather at grandma’s house for a 2 a.m. Christmas brunch.

 

Alexa R. -  said that she was offered an additional $40 gift certificate on top of the $200 gift certificate that the club had collected for Sara Edwards.  Alexa was asked if she wanted to keep the $40 for herself, but she added it to the gift for Sara, who recently delivered a very big baby boy. Alexa likes shrimp cocktail.

 

Nate R. - is looking forward to spending time with Dakota relatives, but also having time to spend just with his immediate family.  Nate likes lingonberries with cream.

 

Lenny N. - was happy about the help he received in getting a new car battery to replace the one that he’d had for 8 years.  And, he’s looking forward to an April 2022 gathering at the Twins ballpark to raise money for fighting polio.  Lenny likes brisket.

 

Terry S. - is looking forward to their gathering of 20 people that haven’t been all together since 2019.  Terry likes almond glazed pastry

 

Dale Feste took a page out of the Pete Giancola book to use the entire ½ hour for his vocational. It was unclear at press time whether Scott Nagel – the person who was to get part of that time – was relieved or disappointed.  Dale Feste’s vocational was quite the story. He’s been a car guy all his life.  His mother told him that the only reason Dale learned to read was because she purchased a subscription to Hot Rod Magazine for Dale as a youngster.  Dale started out as an industrial education teacher.  He taught 10 years for the Hopkins system before being laid off.  At age 33, he rented a gas station and then started an automotive service business.  He sold the business at age 55, which caused his Norwegian parents to worry about what work Dale would then pursue.  When Dale was non-committal about returning to the workforce, his mother declared: “What are we going to tell our friends??!!” Dale has served on various boards, including ICA and Hopkins School Board.  He explained that he became an amputee at age 59 due to cancer.  He’s a big fan of Mayo Clinic.  Dale is now 74 years old.  His biggest passion (“outside my wife”) is river boat travel.  Working for yourself is “freedom”, he counseled.
