Announcements
Jennifer S. - ICA will be having a Turkey coupon days at CUB Foods on Hwy 7 and 101 on Nov 23, 24, and 25. Also, Loaves and Fishes will be packing food for their usual guests, at St. Gabriel's Church in Hopkins. We need 2 people over a few days to help. Finally, our Byerly's/Lunds shopping cart day is on Dec 23, and she already has a full slate volunteered. Look for all the details on our website.
Ron U - notified a few members of the need to meet regarding the upcoming fundraiser. I'm sure you all know who you are.
Lenny N. - announced we are at $1600 toward our goal of $3000 for Polio Plus. Keep it coming in.
Chris Carr - announced a Board Meeting on Friday Nov 20.
Nancy D. - introduced Jessica Flotterud, who is accepting a donation of $800 from our Club Foundation. Nancy is with Hope Dental, a free services clinic. Our contribution was for an Apex Locator for root canals. What started in 1965 as emergency extractions only has now grown to broader services and dental health.

As today is Veteran's Day, most of today's HB were in honor of family service members (to the best of my recollection).
Frank B - for several in his family, and for Walt Stracka, 101 years old, a survivor of the Bataan Death March.
Ann W. - for her father and father-in-law.
Char M. - for her husband in Korea with Purple Hearts and Bronze Stars, and a son in the Army.
Bill S. - for a son in the Marines, and for surviving combat duty with Scott Johnson during pheasant hunting.
Alissa O. - for her husband, and some others.
Nancy D. - for her father, who was in Japan at the time of the atomic bombs.
Lenny N. - for his guest Greg, and for his Uncle Mark who served in the Navy in Viet Nam.
Cathy C. - for her father in the Marshall Islands, and two brothers who served
Ron U. - for a brother-in-law in Korea, and a graduate of West Point.

Bob H. - for his Uncle Sonny, killed on Kwajalean Island in WW2. Bob also mentioned that The Sistine Chapel exhibit is coming to The Mall of America, through January. A rare opportunity to see, and photograph, the marvelous artwork.
Chris Carr - for a Marine father, and various remembrances in Detroit Lakes. Also for Jerald's help with the result of hitting a deer.
Program
Our speaker today is Paige Bowen, the Chief Advancement Officer with MN Community Care.
MN CC provides health and housing services, mostly in the St. Paul area.
They served nearly 40,000 clients last year, most of who are homeless, uninsured, or
publicly insured.
Over half are below the poverty level, and 2200 are homeless each year.
These clients are already at crisis mode, and especially at risk now with COVID. Their problems are complex, from substance dependency, chronic disease, un-insurability , and no where else to get help.
They need a safe place to go, and are now getting help with tele-health.
MN CC provides services on a 24/7 basis, with a staff of 350, as well as many volunteers.
Answers to Questions mentioned a $40 million budget from various federal, state, county, and donation sources.
Family medicine is the basis, but also Podiatry, Optometry, Chiropractic, and Dental are provided.

Thank you for your past participation in our Community Leader’s Thanksgiving “Bagging for Tips” at Cub Foods. During this COVID environment, we are working with Cub Foods to creatively re-invent this event.
On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, November 23, 24, and/or 25, Cub has generously offered to give us a table at the store entrance for two people to greet customers and offer them Thanksgiving Holiday certificates.

Dear Rotarians!
I am a member of the City of Lakes Rotary Club in Minneapolis. This Thanksgiving season I am trying something new: I am baking and selling my homemade Fall Fruit Nut Pies! I will donate the profits to CES or our Rotary District (you choose where I donate your money!). I shared this idea with Tom Gump (who already pre-ordered 1 pie:) and he encouraged me to share this fundraising activity with you. Maybe some of your members would like to buy some pies or you could auction one of the pies at your upcoming meeting? I am open to all ideas!

Anna Prisacari from the City of Lakes Rotary Club is baking and selling her Fall Fruit Nut Pies. The profits will be donated to CES Food Shelf or our Rotary District (you choose). To help Anna plan the baking, she offers 3 days when you can come and pick up the pie from her house near 394 & Hopkins Crossroads (she lives in Minnetonka). To protect each other Anna will do the curbside pickup - she will deliver your pie to your car. To order your pie, please email Anna by October 31st and specify which day works best for you to pick up the pie and how many pies you'd like to order. Each pie is $25.
