Announcements
Sam S. - taking photos of other members for our updated website.
All - We watched a brief and very nice KARE 11 video that showed Hopkins Men’s Shed chapter, of which our clubmember Glen Juntti is a member. The Men’s Shed is an international organization originally founded in Australia. It helps retired males have a sense of comradeship, through socializing and working together on volunteer projects for the community. Far too many men become lonely and alienated after retiring from their jobs, and don’t socialize well. The Men’s Shed helps retirees live better and help the local community.
We also signed a card for Mark Forsberg’s wife. Our thoughts are with Mark and his family after he went through very involved surgery, and now will begin his lengthy recovery. We wish him well.
Mike G. for Tony N. - Remember that our outgoing club President Mike Glover will be “passing the gavel” to new President Tony Newman at Maynards the afternoon of June 21st, as we get ready to begin the new Rotary year on July 1st. A fun social event.

Raffle winner was Chris Carr.

Program
OUR SPEAKERS: This week, our speakers were various club members, who updated us on our club’s 2 upcoming major fundraisers: Minnetonka Summerfest on the afternoon and evening of June 24th, and our big event each year, our annual charity golf tournament (known as Links and Libations), which will be held as usual at the Glen Lake golf course, on the afternoon of Thursday, September 14th. Our club is one of numerous participants in Summerfest, which is held on Minnetonka city property (right adjacent to the civic center, the police and fire departments, and the ice arena). Mark Marlin is our main person coordinating our club’s involvement. It’s a great chance for the general public to learn more about Rotary by seeing our booth. Meanwhile, we are the sole host of our charity golf tournament on Sept. 14, and this year we have a goal of netting $45K for charity and service projects, an increase from our very impressive $40K net last year. Ann Wengronowitz and a number of other clubmembers are on the golf tournament committee, but we look to every club member to be involved with the event. The tournament has relatively low expenses, and we bring in a large amount of revenue from sponsors for the 9 holes, golfer fees, raffle tickets, auctioning of donated items, etc. If anyone is interested in learning more about the beneficiaries of our tournament or signing up (as either a hole sponsor, golfer or non-golfing visitor), please look at our website, www.MinnetonkaRotary.org
