Glen J – The club will be sponsoring 2 high school Jr’s or Sr’s to the 3-day Camp Enterprise. Char’s granddaughter attended & it was great. Below is a link on more info: https://www.campenterprise.org/student-registration

Ann W – There is a wrap-up meeting at Unmapped Brewery today at 5:00 to recap what we learned from the Links & Libations fundraiser

Nate R – Our next Foundation Board meeting is Tue Sept 27 via zoom. Let Nate know if you want to attend & he will send you a link.

Alexa R – The club sold 85 pairs of sox at the Rotary Zone Meeting last week. Thanks to all that helped. Michael added that Lenny is a super salesman.

Michael G – It’s important for club Board Members attend the Board Meeting. We have had 3 straight meeting where we haven’t had enough members present to vote on important items like the proposed budget.

Michael G – If appears we will be meeting in Room 223 for the rest of the school year due to conflicts with the school board. Though not the best we will adapt.

Jim M – Said they are still looking for host families for our exchange student or folks to take her places.

Mark M. – Is back from his trip to Israel. Great time and very interesting places.

Chris C. – His 13-year daughter (going on 29) came down yesterday morning & gave him a big hug. Though great - he wonders if there is more to the story.

Tony N. –Parents had the kids last week.

Frank B. – Thank for all those in the medical profession that keep us healthy. Bottoms up.

Alexa R. – Impressed by her son that attended a 2-day Rotary Session with her.

Pete G. – Moved his father to an assistant living facility. The “judge” wondered if he would like it. He was sold on it during their Open House.

Nate R. – His son Nolan is becoming a very accomplished chess player.

Shane H. – looking forward to seeing cousins at an upcoming wedding.

Michael G. – Got a call from his daughter in NYC just to chat. The call made his day.

Ron U – Was fishing with Ann W husband. Wondered how good Ann is in cleaning fish.

Michael Glover gave his vocational

He was born in 1962 in Seattle. His dad was in the moving industry and worked for several moving companies.

Michael got a B.S. in Management Information System (MIS) from the Univ of Washington in the early 1980’s.

As the job market wasn’t promising – after visiting Univ’s around the country he decided to attend the Univ of MN.

After getting his law degree he works at DeWitt in downtown Minneapolis in transformation & employment law.

Michael has 2 sons & a daughter.

Andrew (29) is in construction. His company builds Top Golf building around the country.

Jack played hockey professional in the U.S. and Europe. He does financial analysis for Ryan Construction company.

Kate is the younger just graduated from [college Ed.] majoring in economics & sociology [and now working Ed.] in NYC.

Michael’s mother is 84 and still living in Seattle. She may more to the Twin Cities.

Michael wonders if anyone had insights on Senior Living options.

Dear Michael Glover,

Thanks to the many Clubs of our District who made last year’s polio fundraising successful. I hope our Clubs will make similar plans this year to earmark that $1500 for polio eradication from whatever club fundraising is done this year.

In July, a case of vaccine derived polio type 2 was detected in the US, just weeks after the virus was detected in wastewater samples in the UK. Polio’s return to areas that had been unaffected for decades, is a stark reminder that as long as polio exists anywhere, it remains a threat everywhere. The re-emergence of polio can be explained by many factors, including vaccine hesitancy and a global drop in childhood vaccination rates. But it’s clear today that no matter the location, anyone not vaccinated against polio is at risk. To prevent further cases of paralysis, high vaccination coverage and robust disease surveillance are key. Fully funding the 2022-2026 Global Polio Eradication Initiative is the best way to protect people everywhere into the future, keeping polio from spreading across borders and around the world. Until we eradicate polio worldwide, it will always be just a plane ride away.

As I have been for the last ten years, I remain at your service for speaking and supporting club efforts to engage members around our flagship initiative, global eradication of polio.

Dear Michael,

Join us for a night of dynamic conversation with Honorable Justice Alan Page. This living legend had a remarkable run in the National Football League as an MVP Award Winner with the infamous Purple People Eaters Minnesota Vikings lineup of the 1960’s. He went on to law school at the University of Minnesota and then to an illustrious career in law. In 1993 he was the first African American appointed to the Minnesota Supreme Court. In 2018, he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor. This recognition is bestowed upon individuals who have made especially meritorious contribution to the United States.

We have planned an evening of lively socializing, entertainment, and education at the idyllic Old Log Theatre in Excelsior. This historic venue is the longest running theater in the United States. This event is part of Rotary’s ongoing commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Our host for the night is Andrew J. Ramirez, a Rotarian from the newly formed MN Pride Rotary Club and District 5950 DEI Action Team Chair.

7:30PM CST - Welcome Remarks from Rotary District 5950 District Governor Lloyd Campbell. Our District Governor Lloyd Campbell will share with you the vision he has for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within Rotary and the monument

8:00PM CST - Veteran trial attorney Doug Schmidt of Schmidt and Salita Law Firm from Excelsior Morning Rotary Club will lead a question-and-answer style discussion with Honorable Justice Alan Page. The topics will represent a broad range of topics, including diversity as it relates to educational outcomes, diversity as it relates to the law and educational inequities, success stories from the Page Educational Foundation and audience submitted questions.

Fundraiser for Page Educational Foundation

This event is a fundraiser for the Page Educational Foundation. All proceeds will be donated to this exceptional nonprofit organization. The Foundation's goal is to encourage, motivate, and assist Minnesota's students of color in the pursuit of post-secondary education, and, in the process, change the future. The Foundation achieves that goal by doing two things. First, by providing financial assistance to students pursuing post-secondary education. Second, and most important, by requiring its Page Scholars to work with young children, kindergarten through eighth grade, specifically in the area of education.

Equity Option: Attend the Discussion in-person: For persons interested in attending this program without the financial means, we are reserving 15 complimentary tickets. Limited to the first 15 registrants. We will also include one beverage ticket. This is based on the honor system.

Cocktails and the Discussion: This trendy option is for those who enjoy mingling with a menagerie of like-minded individuals with an open bar, featuring a selection of beers, wines, cocktails, and nonalcoholic beverages. Attendees will then attend the signature Discussion with Honorable Justice Alan Page in the historic Old Log Theatre. Price: $100

Dinner and the Discussion: This option includes an elegant, seated dinner at the on-site restaurant, Cast and Cru Restaurant. Meal options include Salmon, Beef Short Rib, or a Vegan Seasonal Vegetable Medley. Two glasses of wine will be included, and nonalcoholic beverages are available.
