Fundraising for ICA

Bagging For Tips Fundraiser - November 27, 2019

From the ICA Website:

ICA Food Shelf is looking for volunteers within the community to Bag for Tips at our local Cub Foods! Proceeds of this event support our Turkey Give Away, which provides holiday meals for those in need this season.

Cub Foods Minnetonka (Hwy 7 & CR 101) is a long-time supporter of ICA Food Shelf. These are scheduled on two of their busiest days of the year!

This volunteer opportunity is open to anyone and everyone in our community! We encourage you to wear your civic name tag (if applicable) so they can thank you for your service.

Youth must be 15 years of age to participate. Shifts are 9:00-12:00, 12:00-3:00 and 3:00-6:00 on both Tuesday and Wednesday, November 26th and 27th.

Darlyne E. - Festival of lights December 14; $5.00; Sovereign Estate Winery, 9950 North Shore Rd, Waconia, MN 55387

Jennifer S. - Many Hands Many Meals; 11 club members packed many meals.

Rick O. - Prior Lake Rotary Member leading an Eastern European Tour; freedomquesttours.org

Pete G. - shared bowl out of a kiln that our club sponsored at the Hopkins location

Cathy C. - Thank you to the 38 Rotarians and guests who attended a spectacular charter night of our club, 29 years.

Nancy D. - Sr. Community Services would like our club to adopt two seniors who need snow removal help.

Stacy Q. - Thank you to Jerald, Scott and Bob for the Polio Event that raised $2750.00.

Bob H. - We’ve already raised $3868.00 for Polio and were not even ½ way in our year; by raising $724.00 more dollars we can develop that into $13,568.00 with matching grants available.

Alexa R. - Jennifer Jones, possibly the first RI female president will be speaking at three different Rotary meetings, Wed Nov 20, Thursday Nov 21 lunch and evening; wonderful opportunity to interact.

Stacy Q. - our club donated a badge box to the first Veterans only Rotary Club. Nominations are open for club leadership positions.

Rick O.- celebrates his 70^th birthday Monday; Prior Lakes Rotary raised $435,000 selling.

Jerald S. - lovely weather coming up (tongue in cheek); Cameron has two maybe three college choices.

Bob H. - gets to take care of grandson Nolan tomorrow & reconnected with a high school friend.

Bill S. - thanked Lenny N. for covering for him for the raffle.

Lenny N. - thanked Char M. for being the reporter; thanked Cathy C., Bill S. & Sara E. for charter night.

Jennifer S. - her husband mistakenly took her designer slacks to Good Will with some other items.

Jim M. - heading to the father/son game at Iowa with the Gophers this weekend; Gopher fan and yet has paid thousands in tuition to Iowa.

Nancy D. - younger sister’s recovery is moving along, no more walker and she can carry a Guinness.

Mark Magney - 8 happy bucks for the Gophers being ranked 8^th.

Florian N. - four wisdom teeth removed yesterday; heading to Ottawa for Thanksgiving; National Geographic has article on Rwanda.

Program

JD Park, Unmapped Brewing Com.

JD and his wife, Megan live in Minnetonka with their two children.

JD and Megan met at college in South Carolina 8 years ago.

JD worked for 5 years in a tech company & Megan was at Cargill; she gave him a home brewing kit & that began his hobby of making different brews & the dream of a business of his own brewery – Megan had always thought about having her own cake business.

They raised $750,000 through many venues (60 investors); January 4, 2017 they broke ground and June 2017 they opened their doors.

Tricia A. loves that it’s close to her home, casual go as you are and pets welcome.

Terry S. stated that he was mayor at this time and the Mtka City Council felt the brewery exceeded their expectations.

Bring in your own food; no alcohol drinks can be brought in; pets and children welcome.

Problems they incurred is he & Megan were both under 30, landlords were not interested as they had no money, and banks were not interested because they had no location.

Name “Unmapped” comes from JD and Megan’s passion to go and explore whether it’s a place, a drink, food, etc.

Wednesday nights they have a “Give Back Program”; they give to a specific charity $1 for every beer sold after 6pm to closing;

13 tap lines which consists of 7 beers all the time and they rotate and additional 6 beers.
