Program

Our club’s wonderful exchange student for this school year, Gaia Navarini, spoke to all of us and did a fine power point presentation of her native country, Italy. She also reflected on her personal experiences here in Minnesota while attending Hopkins High School over the last 9 months or so.

Gaia is from a small village in northern Italy near Milan, and describes herself as being part of a family of 6, including their 2 beloved dogs. Gaia speaks at least 3 other languages besides Italian: English, Spanish, and Chinese. She has some general interest in criminology and law, and might be interested in eventually pursuing something of that nature in either the U.S. or Europe.

She is also a skilled dancer, something she began at age 5. She enjoyed being on the dance team at Hopkins HS this year. Gaia has one more year of high school in Italy to complete before she makes decisions about university-level study.

Meanwhile, Gaia’s family back in Italy was hosting an exchange student from France this year while she was in the U.S.

Italy is a very beautiful country of almost 59 million people, and has some of the world’s most popular tourist destinations throughout its length. Italy’s history is fascinating, and its economy is one of the larger ones in the world. Auto racing and soccer are quite popular.

Around June 12, Gaia will return home, and our hope is that her school year here in Minnesota was quite enjoyable. Her host families and our club certainly liked her a lot!
