Invocation

Invocation by Scott N. - The word today is Gratitude; for the friendships in our Rotary Club, and all those things we take for granted. It’s not as easy to be grateful when things aren’t going well, but resolution of disagreements, life changes, and certainly recovery from poor health all make us very grateful. Be aware of the good tings, do your best, and be thankful.

Community Service

The sign-up for the Blood Donation drive on November 1 is going well; our club and The Marsh each have about 25 donors signed up, so we have met our goal. Keep asking others as we can max out at about 80.

Bikes for Kids will have a bike drop-off day on Saturday, October 7 at the Hi-Vee grocery stores. We’ll make sure that they are all participating.

In the Community Service area, Vic from Chaska pitched their Chaska Music Fest at the Chaska Ball Park on Saturday, October 7, from Noon to 10:00. Proceeds go to a special needs ball and play area at that park. $50/ticket

Program

Speaker, Mike Deluca, of the E-Rotary Club, Rotary Global Travelers.
Mike serves on the 5950 Board, and is so pleased to see what an ‘enthusiastic’ club we have.

The Travel Club only just formed in 2021, and it’s all virtual.

The mission of the club is travel, service, and fun. They have members in 25 states and 4 countries. They have 24 actual members, and another 73 associates; Rotarians who belong to other community clubs. They meet virtually on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month, at 6:00 PM, Central time, with a social 30 minutes, at 5:30 prior.

The club has a 2:1 ratio of male and female, with the women holding the majority. How many other clubs can say THAT!

Their giving has increase 4-fold just since 2021. Their projects are mostly International, and other clubs can contribute for joined fund raising, as well as matching grants. Our club has already taken part in a couple.

Projects are on-going in Kenya, Columbia, Egypt, Turkey and Cuba. Upcoming trips in 2024 will be Europe River Cruise, Ethiopia, Hawaii, Israel, and Zimbabwe.
The E-Club gets some amazing speakers, Ambassadors around the world, RI leaders. They are very good with social media. If you want more information, contact Mike Deluca (mikedeluca@hotmail.com) or call him 612-801-5533.

Thank you, Mike, for this very modern form of Rotary, and the fun and service you’re making.
