8. Polio Race Day is a Canterbuy Park on August 10. Tickets available from Nancy or
Stacy for $10. This buys entrance, a hot dog and soda. Proceeds come back to our club toward polio.
9. THIS FRIDAY is the social outing at Brookview Golf and Lawn Bowling. We will be LAWN BOWLING at this beautiful facility. Its FREE. Food and beverages available for
purchase. Don’t miss it.

11. Rock Ridgedale is September 22. Minnetonka Rotary will be selling Beer, wine and hard seltzer from 5-9:30. The free concert is by The Johnny Holm Band. Very little work required with a very big financial return for our club. Sign up to serve!

Char Murphy
: Home town girl, born and raised in Hopkins, Char shared her story which included the peaks and valleys in her life. Her education consists of many certifications ranging
from business to pastoral support and her careers ranged from Administrative work for a family business to working at St. David’s.
She enjoyed a very wonderful 40-year marriage to husband Jim, who passed away in 2012 after several years of health challenges. They enjoyed a blended family which resulted in 2 sons, 3 daughters, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Their work for the Catholic Diocese
brought them great happiness along with their pride in their Irish heritage. Char’s own health battles have earned her “tough woman” status!
Char is a second-generation Rotarian, and the 5th woman to join the Hopkins noon club before transferring to the Minnetonka morning club.
Mac Hardin:
Mac, whose real name is William McCaleb Hardin, was born at Abbot in 1951. He’s the third of four children and grew up on Highway 7 and 101 (When that intersection only had a stop sign!)
Mac spoke of his wife, Kathy’s current health condition of mild cognitive impairment, which has proven challenging this year and why Mac now works from home. Many years ago, Kathy’s daughter Cheryl (Mac’s step daughter) passed away and left behind a 5-year-old son, Kevin, whom Mac and Kathy adopted. Mac pointed out that he started out as a step-dad and went to a grandfather and then became a father. Not many people can say that! Mac’s career path is succinct. After starting at Normandale and moving on to Mankato, he earned an accounting degree (this from a man who got a D minus in high school math!) He met a man at his gas station job who worked for the Hardware Association just month before his graduation. He interviewed and got the job where he has continued to work for 43 years. Mac has held many titles and performed many roles and seen some changes, but Mac plans to be there for a few more years before thinking of retirement.
