The first meeting of 2023-24 was called to order by our new President Tony at 7:30

Frank looks forward to a wonderful Rotary year today. Our club is filled with hard working, generous and dedicated members. We go forward with energy and enthusiasm in all our service.

Jennifer S. - reminded us of the project at Gro-Tonka park, where 8 of us will be sprucing up this City of Minnetonka park. Tomorrow, July 13, 4:00 to 5:30

Happy Bucks

Frank B. - wishes Floriane safe travels on her way back to Africa and her school. He auctioned coffee and tea from her, and put $30 into our account

Bob H. - put $10 back for a beer tab he (inadvertently) left open at the Fundraiser meeting. Thank you to an ‘unnamed’ member who covered it. We all might know who it was.

Bonnie W. - for success with her husband’s knee surgery, and now some home nursing needed with several medications.

Mike G. - for best of luck with Tony’s year starting today.

Glenn J. - for getting good info for proper fishing line, after a trip to the hospital for a stuck fishhook.

Don C. - for help with a buff-out by Jerald, and off to Europe for most of August

Ann W. - for our first big auction item, and sponsors already signed up for our Fundraiser.

Valbona - for an upcoming trip to Phoenix. Be careful, 115 degrees out there.

Chris R. - gone next week, on vacation with 15 relatives.

Jennifer S. - for her mother’s 92^nd birthday, and a visit with a childhood friend.

Phil H. - for 10 days in the White Mountains, and a reunion with 70 people.

Bill S. - for seeing Patty, Rick, and Nancy here today.

Beth Y. - for a wonderful, waterfall filled trip to Yosemite.

Frank B. - ditto on that part of the country.

Ron U. - planned donation of chocolate chip cookies were eaten in our honor. Thanks, Ron? And Mary is moving and walking better every day.

Tony N. - thanks for the work by the set-up and tear-down teams.

Program - Club Assembly

Introductions and updates by the committee leaders and all the volunteers in our club:

1. Fundraising; Mark Marlin. Our Links and Libations and Summerfest are this year.

We’ll be selling socks at 2 big upcoming meetings. August (I think) 24th

2. Community Service; Bob Hersman, Beth Young, and outgoing chair, Jennifer St, Claire. With club input, these 3 will lead us into some new projects. Club Service is what we do. We not only help so many, but service projects are the best way to get to know each other. Bring your family and friends. We’ll be surveying y’all (North Carolina speak) for new ideas.

3. Club Foundation; Mike is the chair of our committee, who decides where our raised finds go. He could use 1-2 new members, if that interests you.

4. International; Glenn leads the Int’l arm of our Foundation, where 20% of the funds go. We have donated for clean and safe water, young children, and education.

5. Rotary International; Chris Rosenlund continues to use the ‘velvet hammer’ to lead us to being a Top 10 club in RI donations. He will update us shortly on the RI Annual Fund.

6. Membership; Jerald and Bill. As each committee head said, we are ALL members of these efforts.

Be aware of talking about Rotary to friends and colleagues. Bring them to service projects. Most people became Rotarians because someone ASKED them to be. We had a great year last year.

7. Club Service; Sara. Our speakers are fantastic, we’re booked out a ways. Look for interesting topics, and invite friends to hear them.

8. Public Image; Alexa works very hard at getting our club and image, and certainly our District, out to the world. Social media works wonders, especially with our September Fundraiser coming up. Send her pictures of events we take part in.

Our goal is not only $45,000 but 100 % club participation

Several committee heads discussed auction of baskets, silent auction, sponsorship, raffle, and the website details. Next fundraiser meeting is Monday, July 24, 5:00 at Tuttle’s Bowling, Hopkins.

Tony wrapped up, and named our ‘chain of command’ for several years.

Past-president Mike, President Tony, President-elect Alissa, Secretary Ron, and Secretary-elect Don.

This is a 5-year commitment that so many members have made. Thank them when you see them.

Finally, we had a big $ day; Polio $137, Happy Bucks and Raffle, $84, and $30 in Coffee/Tea for a total of $251. What a Club!

Adjournment

Thanked the club and the presenter, between raffle and happy bucks we got $76, plus $15.5 (Polio).
