Program

Phil Magney, Mark’s brother; according to Mark he was the black sheep of the family and Mark was the angel; Dale refuted that saying Phil was an excellent student of his and a “bright light”; Mark was speechless!

Phil is president of VSI Labs, an automated driving research business he began 8 years ago around auto sensor’s and research insights on auto safety trends.

In 1976 Phil envisioned cars driving themselves; we are all in Level ! Driving now (think cruise control) and next five years we will be moving to Level II. In 50 years Phil predicts no humans will be allowed to drive on public roads.
Level III not legal in USA; possible in Europe; set your destination and relax.

He tests his findings/cars in a private testing area near Monticello.

The cars of the future (and many today) have lots of cameras and radar.

ADAS = advanced drive assistance system
ADS = automated driving system
ADAS and ADS technology used in all types of vehicles; more expensive to repair/replace (ie. Headlights)
