Nancy D. - welcomed David Senior, from RELATE Counseling. He expressed his thanks for a $4,000 award from our club foundation. Relate has been active here for 51 years. They are in 8 Metro school districts, 50 buildings, and had 13,000 students/families contacts in 2019
He says schools are the necessary scaffolding that many rely on for stability, food, support.
With furloughs and lay-offs, life is difficult for many. RELATE's services, now virtual,
provide the important contact and hope these clients need. Thank YOU, David.
Mark Magney - RI's North Star Youth Exchange has cancelled the program for 2020-21, possibly longer.
Also, Highway 7 Clean-Up is scheduled for June 6 (D-Day!) 8:30 group filled, email Mark for 8:45 and 9:00

Program
Speaker: Today we are honored to have Jason Gadd with us, the current Mayor of Hopkins. Jason has been very active in HBCA and JC's; he is a small town kid from South Dakota and is still living that affinity as a Hopkins resident for 24 years.
He addressed a few items of interest about Hopkins:
-Hopkins is not immune to the Covid virus concern (say, what??) services are being adjusted.
-regular council meetings are taking place, virtually.
-Shady Oak Beach is closed for the summer.
-Bear Cave Brewery will be opening at 12th and Mainstreet in Hopkins.
-Hopkins is encouraging businesses and residents to improve their properties; some with grants.
-Hopkins is well-connected to neighboring cities, work well together.
-Hopkins is really promoting stores, restaurants to stay well in their businesses
-they will follow the state June 1 opening of outdoor dining.
-developers are still very interested in Hopkins, light rail a strong draw.
-up to 1000 new housing units are planned.
-Kiddy Wampus, the Vine Room are remodeling, doubling their spaces.
-summer events are hopeful, a modified Raspberry Festival.
-Farmer's Market will be opening soon.
- any contribution of bleach, wipes, and disinfectants would be welcome.
Questions from the club were about city parking, housing, help for local businesses, JC's as a great feeder into Rotary, as age 40 is the limit for a JC.
Nancy suggested that Masks and other protective gear is available from Maple Grove Rotary.

From Mark Magney - We have scheduled our semi-annual Highway 7 cleanup project for Saturday June 6, starting at 8:30 am.
Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic MNDOT has issued the attached guidelines for our work. In addition to these guidelines we would like to split our efforts up in to three time slots each consisting of 10 or less individuals. The time slots will be 8:30 am, 8:45 am and 9:00 am.
If you are able to help with this community service project please respond to this email with the time slot you would prefer. Please give me a first and second choice for the time slot. The first nine people who sign up for a time slot will be assigned to that spot. I will send an email with the time slot assignments after everything is set up.
I will provide safety vests and trash bags. You will need to provide our own gloves.
Guidelines from MNDOT:
Following guidance from state health officials and to prevent further spread of COVID-19, all Adopt a Highway program volunteers should follow these prevention guidelines during picks. Guidelines and restrictions may change, so please contact the Adopt a Highway coordinator in your area for the latest information or to answer your questions.
When picking trash:
Practice social distancing - stay at least six feet from each other.
Limit groups to 10 volunteers or fewer.
Bring and wear your own gloves and use a trash picking tool whenever possible to minimize direct contact.
Drive separately to your location.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth while picking trash.
After trash picking is complete, use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol or disinfectant wipes.
Do not volunteer if you are sick.
Follow all other safety precautions on the Adopt a Highway website: mndot.gov/adopt/.
If you need safety vests or supplies:
Call your Adopt a Highway coordinator to schedule a pick-up appointment or make arrangements to have supplies mailed to you.
No same-day supply pick-ups will be allowed; please schedule your appointment in advance.
All supply pick-ups or drop-offs will be hands-free; coordinate details with your Adopt a Highway coordinator.

From Bill S. - Short biography of new member, Patti Sinykin:
Patti Sinykin is the Development Director at ICA Food Shelf. In her role she oversees both the development and volunteer departments. She enjoys getting out into the community to spread the word and good work of ICA as well as engaging both donors and volunteers alike. When Patti is not at work, you can usually find her and her husband, David, on a basketball court, football field or softball field cheering on her three children, all of whom attend Minnetonka High School. When/if she ever has some free time, Patti likes to craft, play games with her family and enjoy a glass of wine with girlfriends.
Short biography of new member, Betsy Weiner:
Betsy has been teaching yoga, meditation and mindfulness for almost 20 years. She is an initiate in the Sri Vidya Tradition which is part of the greater 5000+ year old Himalayan tradition that blends the three streams of Tantra Hatha Yoga, Ayurveda, and sacred texts such as the Yoga Sutras into one comprehensive system of study and techniques. She holds her 500 hour Yoga Alliance teacher through ParaYoga and is one of only 30 Level 2 Certified ParaYoga Teachers in the world. She also holds a certification as a Four Desires Trainer which is the systematic and holistic work of uncovering your Soul’s unique purpose, what is standing in your way, and how to build a life of heartfelt intention. Betsy has been on faculty as a facilitator, guide, and mentor in the 230 and 300 hour teacher training program at the Yoga Center Retreat since 2003. She travels as a guest teacher offering teacher trainings and workshops in the US and Canada. Betsy is a Certified Integrative Health Coach through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. She helps clients to create a bio-individualized approach to health and wellness through practices such as intuitive eating, mindful exercise, yoga, pranayama, meditation and journaling exercises.
Betsy founded Amrita Health and Wellness in 2016 as the culmination of her years of study and practice. She utilizes her knowledge of yoga, Ayurveda, pranayama, meditation, and wellness theory, to establish a foundation which leads clients and students to uncover their innate wisdom and help to create lives of purpose, meaning and fulfillment.
