Invocation
Invocation: Lenny Newman
Here’s an invocation that reflects the spirit of a hard-fought election, focusing on unity, resilience, and moving forward together: Invocation for Unity After a Hard-Fought Election “Spirit of peace and justice, we gather today as a community of diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and perspectives. In the wake of this hard-fought election, we recognize the passion and commitment of all who engaged in the democratic process. We honor the energy, dedication, and hope that each voice brings to shaping our future. May we now set aside the divisions of the past and look forward together. Grant our leaders and each of us the courage to build bridges, the wisdom to listen, and the strength to work in partnership. May we turn our focus from what divides us to what unites us and strive for a future that honors the dignity and dreams of all. Let us walk forward with respect and empathy, committed to the common good. May our actions reflect the values of justice, compassion, and peace, and may we all find hope and purpose in building a better tomorrow together. Amen."

Program
Speaker (1) Annika Sorteberg: Attended UW Eau Claire. Studied Public Relations and Spanish. Participated in waterskiing, wakeboarding, and figure skating. It was during university that she was bitten by the travel bug. She moved to Costa Rica and lived in San Isidro, an area of involved in the coffee bean industry. While there, she lived with a host family’s home with three generations. During this time in Costa Rica she taught English, enjoyed her parents visiting and continued her Latin American travels. It was during this time that she began developing her social media knowledge base, while posting her adventures online. Little did she know this would one day to employment. She has traveled to over 18 countries and today continues to travel when not working. She works in marketing for a company and spends free time participating on a figure skating team and teaches figure skating at the Minnetonka Ice Center. In August of 2025, she will marry the love of her life, Dan.
Speaker (2) Mike Silva Jr.: Grew up in an adventurous family who bestowed on him the motto: Live The Dream (LTD). He is all about living life and loving life, while being a positive force in the world.
Growing up in Denver, CO, his father was a commercial helicopter pilot who served in Vietnam and Iraq as a chopper pilot. Mike can distinctly recall at age 6, pressing his hands against the glass of the chopper and desiring to jump out and fly. First, however, Mike was a Boy Scout, ascending to Eagle. He attended a Jesuit Catholic HS followed by the University of Las Vegas to study Hospitality. Adding to his BA, he holds a Masters in Finance. The first day on campus (2004) his roommate invited him to go to Fly Away Indoor Skydiving.
He was hooked and began working in the indoor skydiving industry . He has clocked over 1500 hours in the Vegas wind tunnel and enjoyed traveling the country teaching others the art and the business of wind tunnel flight. He ultimately moved back to Denver 2008, he met (our President) Alissa Olson and remained through 2018, before moving back to MN in 2019. In Minnesota he began working at I-Fly. In 2020 he left the industry to explore other options.
He is now self employed. One of his sky diving clients recruited him to join him at a financial planning firm. He now works for Global Wealth Strategies and Assoc. www.GWSA.com, striving to achieve the 3 I’s for himself and his clients: : Independence, Impact and Income
He also continues to be active in the sky diving world. He was on a tandem skydiving team with Josh Evans, they were US Champions, 9 years running. Today he and Alissa make a tandem team in more ways than one, they also sky dive. They recently took 2nd in a national competition, edged out by the Air Force team. Mike also is a Guiness Book of World Record holder, participating in a 138 person in-air formation. A record that required 2 years of training, gathering folks from around the world for a 10 day span in Chicago, where they jumped 16 times from 25,000 feet and ultimately set the record. Probably 12 people in the US have his qualifications. Mike votes the Station 6 Food Truck Minneapolis’ best chicken sandwich.
