The meeting was called to order by President Chris at 7:30.

Guests

There were no guests introduced, but later on I saw that Holly Magdanz was attending. I believe she is our liaison with Rotaract. Welcome, Holly. (She may be in line to be a new member. Ed.)

Invocation

Char Murphy. Her prayer included words such as patience, slow, waiting, forbearance, unruffled, quiet, hearing the answer, letting it go, and inner peace.

Announcements

Chris Carr - Board Meeting last week, and a budget was approved. he also announced that Lenny will be our Polio chair for this Rotary year.

Rotary Minute

From Cathy C.- Through the progress we’ve made in the fight to end polio and the expansion of our grant programs and fundraising efforts, Rotary continues to make a difference in the world. To increase our impact, however, we must establish systems to identify and measure our results, learn from our successes and failures, and build on our partnerships.

What is the true value of Rotary’s work? Our efforts have been historically hard to quantify, but two leading institutions helped us begin to get answers.

The Johns Hopkins Center for Civil Society Studies estimated that Rotary members volunteered nearly 47 million hours in a typical year. If communities had to pay for the services Rotary provides, that figure would translate into $850 million.
Harvard University estimated that Rotary clubs contributed $1.15 billion in cash to charitable activities in their local communities in 2018. This is in addition to contributions made to The Rotary Foundation.

By using innovative measurement tools, Rotary can better understand and measure our inputs, outputs, and outcomes, and begin to quantify and maximize the wide-reaching impact of our efforts.

Scott J. - thanks to Tony, he has a NEW motor in his OLD Motor home. He's heading out for a 2 day test ride today.

Char M. - $10 for attending a family wedding shower. A very fun day with LOTS of Aunts.

Cathy C. - The Prior Lake Concert happened just off her back yard. Over 1000 boats, with lots of families having a great day. Biggest one ever.

Glen J. - spent time with 3 grandsons at the cabin. Great to have them, great to rest up afterwards.

Jerald S. - good to be back from 9 of the last 11 weeks in Nebraska repairing hail damage. Over 500 cars?

Ron U. - happy to be fishing with his grandson (Betsy's son). Youth prevailed.

Floriane N. - she discovered the 1st (and only?) fast food in Kigali. A KFC, and the food tasted just like chicken.

Betsy W. - Happy 50th birthday, Betsy!. A fun party on Sunday. Cathy advises stop counting right now.

Bonnie W. - Happy that no big damage from a tree top that blew down. A good clean up effort.

Chris C. - also happy for no damage at his cabin in DL, although many did have wind damage.

Bob H. - Happy to have his daughter and fiance return home from Seattle. He'll complete the round trip by driving her car home, after driving it out 5 years ago. Over the top of the Tetons

Patti S. ; On vacation, only set her alarm for today's meeting. To East Bethel for daughter's (softball?) championship and finally happy for Jerald/Auto Body continuing support of ICA.

Ron U. - with a final comment from an old friend. "better to be seen than reviewed"

Program

Club Assembly - Chris C. organized his committee leaders for 20-21 with their reports.

President Chris C. - Thank you all for showing up in big numbers for these virtual meetings and he spoke for Bill and Jennifer who were gone.

Bill S. - In Membership. Alissa is new on the committee. We should make an effort to reconnect with former Minnetonka Rotarians, or any former Rotarians for that matter. Might be the right time to come back

Jennifer S. - on Community Service. We'll continue with our usual work at ICA, Loaves and Fishes, Hwy 7, Bicycles, Lund's and Byerly's. Jennifer has two new ideas, one local and one international. Local; Drive for Supplies for Health Care Workers. Working with (name?), we'll collect snacks, masks and $$ to give to the Frontline workers in COVID care.

International - Our Club Foundation approved a grant to Future Roots, an education effort in Guatemala. Through Ron, we want to collect 20 used cell phones (not Flip Phones) to give to the teachers there. Work fast to try to drop these items off with Jennifer at Eisenhower on August 5 between 10:00 and 2:00

Mac H. - Treasurers Report. End of year on June 30, we had a surplus. Board approved $2000 x 2 recipients, leaving a checkbook balance of $11,900.

The dues will remain at $275 for the year. You can pay that full amount, which includes 2 breakfast credits for the club's benefit. It's kind of our way of kicking in some Happy Bucks. AND, you can send those other Bucks of Happiness directly to Mac now. Mail to; 12926 Rutledge Circle Mtka, MN 55305. Thanks.

Nancy D, - Club Foundation. The members are Nancy, Glen, Terry, Stacey, Ben, Ryan (miss anyone?). They approved 2 International grants to Future Roots in Guatemala and for a water pump generator in Haiti. The budget this year is $48,000; $39,000 domestic and $9000 International. Next Foundation meeting is Aug 18.

Chris R - RI Foundation. In 2019-20, we contributed $21,900, which was short of our $30,000 goal. A difficult year, but it's still $396 per member (53 members), ahead of District Ave of $255/member. But Polio $ was WAY ahead of previous year, so total $$ to RIF was almost $29,000. The goal for 2020-21 is $25,000 to RIF.

Awards were given out to Paul Harris Fellows; Scott Johnson #1 and Chris Carr #4.

All in all, a successful year, all things considered. Try to begin submitting electronically, but checks always welcome

Mark F - Programming and Club Service. Also helping are Ron, Mary, Chris C, Alexa, Stacey, Jacob, Lenny (miss?). Virtual meetings are more difficult to get speakers. Be sure to read Mark's service schedule, and find replacements

Alexa R. - PR. Get content of gatherings, events, photos to her.

Nate R. - Visioning. No report.
