Invocation was given my Holly M. – saying related to Indigenous Native Americans and their relationship to life in “Circles”. “Everything that an Indian does is in a circle. The power of the world always works in circles, everything tries to be round. The sky is round and I have heard that the earth is round like a ball and so are all the stars. The wind with all its power circles the world. The sun comes up and then goes down, again in a circle. The moon does the same and both are round. Even the four seasons come along and then come around again, always in a circle and come back to where they started. Our Teepees are round like a birds nest.”

Cathy C. - Wanted to provide background and information on our new incoming Rotary International President Shekhar Mehta, from the Rotary Club of Calcutta, India. He is an accountant and Chair of “The Skyline Group” a real estate development company in India he founded and a Board Member of “Operation Eye Sight Universal” a foundation he started. He is also a trustee of the “International Relief Agency” and a partner if the “Shelter Box”. He feels the membership development should be Rotary’s highest priority. Also a regional plan to transition Rotaract clubs in to Rotary Clubs is important. Also work on increasing diversity of Rotary membership. Rotary Clubs should work on an action plan to increase membership.

From Cathy C.- Oct. 24th is World Polio day, and she wanted to call our attention to an article in the last Rotary magazine called “Disease Detective” that stresses the importance of contract tracing in reducing the impact of the spread of a disease. This has been a key strategy in managing the spread of diseases over the last 70 years, and is especially critical in today’s Coronavirus Pandemic.
Announcements
Lenny N. announced that Oct. 24th was World Polio day. With the club not meeting in person we are quite far behind in reaching our goal of $3,000, so would appreciate if as you send in a check for Happy Bucks you include something for Polio, or just send in a check marked for Polio. Keep in mind that the Bill and Malinda Gates foundation matches your donation 2 to 1. The deadline for our goal in the end of April 2021.
Chris Carr – This Friday the City of Lakes Rotary have a fall baking fund raiser.
Ron Usem – He needs help if we are going to proceed with the “Comedy Club/Entertainment Package Rotary Fund Raiser on Feb. 11th, 2021. Please let him know if anyone can help, he is not willing to do it alone. Chris C. indicated he would bring this up at the board meeting this Friday.
Happy Bucks
Ben M. – four happy bucks for being able to help his kids with spelling test, son won $100 at bowling event, and two for getting to go (at his wife’s request) to San Antonio on Nov. 24th for a get-a-way.
Bob H. – went to Kansas City to see his one year old grandson for his first birthday.
Char M. – had her 6 yr old grand-daughter over to help get her patio winterized and took some things over to her storage area.
Lenny N. – two happy bucks, one from being able to break bread with one of our fellow Rotarians. The second happy buck is for being able to set in on the Rotary Foundation meeting and see how well our Foundation is being managed.
Bob H. – Stopped by clinic and met with Steve Gallanger a member of Rotary a long time ago, and Steve pulled $5 out of his pocket for happy bucks, Bob wants to donate them to the Polio fund plus he is adding $10.
Frank B. – They have an Australian puppy in their apartment bldg. that brings joy to him every time he sees it. It just loved the snow.
Jerald S. – Happy buck for the beautiful weather.
Bill S. – Happy buck for a new 11 week old puppy they got yesterday. It was good for his sole to watch the puppy play in the snow.
Ron U. – Happy buck for the squirrels in the back yard diving for nuts they buried in the snow.
Cathy C, – Forgot to line up the snow plow, happy that they could add her to the list at the last minute.
Floriane N. - $10 for being able to finish the new women’s educational shelter and get a good start on the vegetable garden that is adjacent to it. Also they had 11 piglets born a few days ago, and that was the second one in just a few weeks.
Chris Carr – Happy bucks for four days on the North Shore and a new slow blower.
Bob H. – Want’s to add an extra happy buck for the new baby Nate is holding, asked Nate if he could introduce new member of family. Nate introduced is daughter Audrey and their new two week old girl Norah.

Ron U. introduced the speaker, our member Betsy Weiner.
Betsy made a presentation on Holistic Health Coaching. Holistic Health encompasses a life of purpose, a healthy meaningful live style. She provides Holistic Health Coaching combined with Yoga training. A holistic health coach is a supportive mentor providing wellness expertise in an individual setting. Holistic Health is usually made up to two elements, Philosophy that all elements are interconnected and Medicine that accounts for mental and social factors rather than just symptoms.
The work is one in partnership with clients to achieve a shift of perspective in a respectful, non-judgmental setting. The work is combined with Yoga, which is a set of practices that helps you focus and center yourself.

I am a member of the City of Lakes Rotary Club in Minneapolis. This Thanksgiving season I am trying something new: I am baking and selling my homemade Fall Fruit Nut Pies! I will donate the profits to CES or our Rotary District (you choose where I donate your money!). I shared this idea with Tom Gump (who already pre-ordered 1 pie:) and he encouraged me to share this fundraising activity with you. Maybe some of your members would like to buy some pies or you could auction one of the pies at your upcoming meeting? I am open to all ideas!

To protect each other Anna will do the curbside pickup - she will deliver your pie to your car.
