Our good friend Katie Williams is back for a visit, and her successor at HHS, Gloria Cazanaoli. Gloria is actually interested in joining our club! A great segue from Katie to Gloria.

Invocation by Jennifer, and some good thoughts on friends and volunteers
People have volunteered for us, and now we volunteer our own time. Rather than saving our money, help someone else be safe from heartaches. The reward we receive from volunteering is the commitment, the service, and the devotion. That is the honor. There are two ways to give light; be the candle that emits the light and be the mirror that reflects the light. We’re all in this together.

Mike G. - Our speakers today are Don and Mike. The North Mpls Ramble Bike Ride is on Saturday 8/20. Kind of a Brewery Crawl; sounds fun. An upcoming Zone meeting will feature Gordon MacInally, the RI President-elect in 2023-24.

Next week, August 24, our speaker will be the new District Gov, Lloyd Campbell. Looking for Big turnout!
Mike also told us about the Polio virus showing up in some large city’s [waste] water.
Ann W. - Updates on the Fundraiser;
Everyone should be part of a basket, volunteer if you’re not on one yet, or make your own. Keep asking for sponsorships, it’s our biggest $$ source.
We need volunteers for a greeter, wine and beer pourers, golf game helpers.
We are now at or above 60 golfers, 90 is a probable max. Make sure sponsors have room to golf by signing them up NOW.
Jerald S. - Raffle tickets; Sell-Sell-Sell. Bring envelopes with tickets, extra cash, and a flyer with our reasons to give, to other Rotary Clubs. Sign up for those visits.
Nate R. - Another RI President-elect was in town, the 2024-25 year, and a few of us got to meet Stephanie Urchick last month. In case you’re counting, this will be the SECOND woman as RI President in 3 years. All of these next 3 leaders have been in our back yard recently.

Happy Bucks were in large supply today.
Ron U. - for a day on the Mississippi fishing with his grandson
Florianne N. - for her sewing program taking off with teen mothers learning and selling their products. Some walk two hours to get there. She also showed some pictures of her school.
Mac H. - he’s in a good mood today (just today?), had a good surgery result, for Gloria joining us, and to heartily welcome her to our club. And seeing Katie today
Chris C. - for his daughter getting braces, and close friends visiting for a while.
Bill S. - for his family coming to visit, and for Katie being here.
Ann W. - for Katie’s visit, and having Mark Forsberg back with us.
Jennifer S. - for support from club members with her upcoming Rock and Roll event, and seeing Katie.
Jim M. - for Gloria picking his ticket, for his children (not him!) traveling in Europe, and the house almost ready.
Lenny N. - for a bus tour with his grandson, and seeing 5 Midwest ballparks, and games.
Sam S. - the AZ contingent is in town, going to Greece next week, and ditto for seeing Katie.
Frank B. - happy that we now have all 3 host family slots filled for our incoming exchange student
Alexa R. - for a week at the lake, and having her father around to be with the kids.
Mark Forsberg - $20 for being back with us, and Ben, as a surprise, covering his lunch recently.
Katie W. - welcomes Gloria here today, living in Paradise in Wisconsin, learning LOTS of new skills, a grandbaby and 3 of her 4 daughters are now in Mpls. She is VERY happy to see us all today..
Sarah E. - JOYFUL to be going to Sonoma for a long weekend, and the kids are staying with Gr and Gr.
Don C. - $80 happy for his mother’s 80th birthday
Scott N. - for getting back up on the water skis recently.
Bob H. - he made the smallest, by volume, contribution to the Booze Barrel, with 2 oz bottle of Fireball or as he calls it, ‘Birdie Juice’. Also really glad to see Katie, and hearing her deafening whistle again. We ALL missed that.
Program
Speaker; Don Cunningham
Don was born in 1963 in Michigan, and had a very full life there, through high school. He lettered 12 times in 4 years, was in theater, the band, playing larger and larger horns as his braces required. The 200-member band won several awards. He was the Class President for 2 years.
He went to U of Michigan and then to the Navy. He was in cryptology. He moved to Minnesota in 1993, and has been here full-time since 1997. He remains a Wolverine and has many happy memories of time there with his father. He enjoys opera, theater, and travel. Greece is his favorite, and the entire area where Asia meets Europe, and the Bosphorus Strait between them. Don made $32,000 on Who Wants to be a Millionaire.
He has 2 dogs, Gipper (as in the Fighting Irish?) and Lela Belle. His education includes 2 Masters, and nearly a PhD. He has worked for Sun Country, Brinks, Mesaba, and FedEx in many management categories.
