Program
Speakers; Today we heard from two of our newest members, Betsy Weiner and Patty Sinykin.
Betsy - Born, raised, schooled in Edina, loved dancing, singing, writing, and speaking. She even received a letter in Choir. After all that in Minnesota, she was off for California. Spent 8 years there, partly at Chapman College, found a love for Yoga
Returned to Minnesota, finished her degrees, and continued as a Yoga instructor.
She is one of only a few who teach advanced disciplines.
She teaches and inspires others as a health coach, about the deep values and meaning of life Betsy credits several mentors along the way. She has been married 20 years, has 2 kids, and still teaches Yoga. She has kept up her singing in a cover band. Betsy has found several other ways to give back, through Literacy Matters, and now our club.
She has 3 thoughts that keep her going; Get Quiet-Listen-Focus
Oh, and if you didn't already know, her Dad is Ron Usem.
Thank you, Betsy, great presentation. Welcome to the Club!
Patty - She says there might be some repetition here, as she and Betsy were contemporaries at Edina High School. Patty also received a letter in Choir! She is the youngest of 3 children, and was raised with a strong base of family and community roots. The words of Rotary 'Repair the World' and 'Rotary Heals the World' resonate with Patty.
She attended UW Madison with a business and marketing degree. She joined the Peace Corps for 2 years in Costa Rica. She worked with her father, and soon found a path to volunteering with Junior Achievement, Meals on Wheels, and Neighborhood House. She was moving towards non-profits and development programs to support them. Along the way, she met and married her husband Dave, and was
soon quite busy with 3 kids under 2 years old.
They found their way to Minnetonka, where she was very involved with the schools. The ICA building was in her backyard, and despite some neighbors opposition, she went all in for ICA. She worked with Kathy Mays and soon had a leadership role there, especially with development. No matter how busy, Patty says that family
is the center of her life.
We hope she has found another family here in Rotary, and we're very happy that you've joined the club, Patty. Thanks for your vocational.

Nancy D. - Minnetonka Rotary Foundation provided two $1,500 scholarships to two graduates of the GED program this year. This video was put together by the Adult Options staff and I thought I'd share it with our club members. To the best of my knowledge, the 2 scholarship recipients are Michael Olive and Samantha Almars.
