Polio: Goal of raising $500 for polio eradication – take the donation boxes to get other people’s money. Whoever raises the most money, gets the highly sought after coin that she purchased from the Sherriff.
Christine: Resource West has drop off locations for collecting winter gear and is also accepting $ donations.
Cathy: Leftover golf silent auction items for purchase.
Glenn: Free Bikes 4 Kids – November 10 from 9-12 club members needed to volunteer to refurbish bikes. Need to register online with FB4K during that time slot.
Mark: Highway 7 Cleanup 9am Saturday Famous Daves
ICA fundraiser last Thursday night – donated a house concert at his home with Jeff Dayton (pizza/beer). Sending an email inviting a few others. $100 per person.
Chris Rosenlund wins the first round but the joker eluded him.
Dr. Bob – can’t make it to Charter Night. Round of applause though, for original charter members.
Bill – son turns 31 today, going to Italy and Croatia with him.
Alexa – one and only time she’s giving a $ for Pete saving her children’s future. Saved them a lot of money on a plumbing issue.
Pete – Son who is a pilot, was able to handle the security/logistics of Airforce 2.
Regina – happy to be here.
Katie – Katy Fisk and she had coffee. Exchange students doing well. Went to Quebec last weekend.
Ben – happy to see Ryan taking notes.
Stacey – can’t make it Saturday because she’s visiting her daughter this weekend.
Jennifer – ICA fundraiser with Festes.
Mary T – Birthday and North Shore for her birthday, but too gloomy to see the leaves changing.
Ron – Opened the mail finding an envelope for $3.39 as a Treasury Dept. tax refund.
Floraine – happy to be back after being gone for 10 weeks.
Chris R – 40% of the club turned in their 2018 foundation commitment sheets. Please turn in the rest of them. Anyone who turns the sheet in this week, gets in a drawing for a $50 gift card…and a picture with Chris! Thanks to Dan Narr for something we don’t know about.
Lenny – speaker about NCAA Final Four.
Christine (again) – was at an outdoor wedding on the north shore two weeks ago and it was very cold.
Nancy – Sister was in an accident – broken leg, but her head was not injured.
Named as NCAA Final Four organizing committee responsible for all aspects of the event in 2019. Parent of 3 children.
Started part time on the committee in 2016, full time in 2017. Now full tenant space for organization in downtown Mpls.
Event is April 5-8, 2019
Free event at USB Stadium Friday the 5th free to the public, all-star game, team practices.
Saturday: Fan Fest is low cost, family friendly, autographs, interactives, 50,000 people at the convention center.
Sunday: No basketball – but 3,000 kids will do basketball parade, to a free fan fest.
March Madness Music Series – Three days of urban, pop, country (top talent). Venue and music groups To Be Announced.
Two basketball games on Saturday 6th, championship on Monday the 8th at USB Stadium.
Changing seating for 72,000 people to fit the stadium – more than ever.
23 million people will view the championship game
97 million viewers of Final Four games
180 countries broadcast the games
400,000 attendance at all events
Her job is to deliver all events with excellence, earn a future opportunity to host, create a lasting local impact.
What does impact mean:
Economic - $142 million of added spending in this region. 94,000 visitors. 2,500 hotel/hospitality jobs retained locally.
Social/Civil – Youth - centering them in the event’s activities. Diversity and Inclusion reflected throughout the operations. Education: “Read to the Final Four” year-long 3rd grader reading initiative in MN. Free access to digital books, hosting a tournament-style reading competition.
Fan Jam – Cinco de Mayo, Special Olympics, Hmong Freedom Fest, Open Streets, Pride Fest. 60+ tour stops planned statewide. Est. 120,000 event attendance per month.
