Rotary Minute

Alexa R. took Cathy's time today, with the very interesting story about Rotary and Scouting. Paul Harris and James West started this connection right away in 1910.

Many of Rotary and Scouting values, oaths, and mottoes align, and especially service. By 1930, Rotary had started half of the 500 Scouting packs in the US. Rotary US received the Silver Buffalo Award for its involvement.

Program

Oliver Jurik, a 14 year old Eagle Scout talked about his IMPRESSIVE young years in Scouting.

Scouting has been a big influence in his life, he has learned many skills, and also leadership and teamwork. He listed several positions as Den chief, counselor, and is far ahead of most scouts at his age. He went way beyond the required 21 merit
badges to Eagle Scout, and has gathered most of the maximum of 130. He played a photo video of his many scouting experiences.

Many questions were asked, and also his mother, Vicki, gave us more on International Scouting. She and her husband have long time Scouting histories.

Thank you to the Jurik family for your talk, and dedication to Scouting. You talk about Building Responsible Youth; WOW!
