Justice Alan Page will be speaking about Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and the Law at the Old Log Theater on October 6.
Look for the link that I will forward talking about the district wide signature project being promoted by District Governor, Lloyd Campbell raising money for pre-school students in need.
Lastly, we have a special club meeting on November 2. The Hopkins High School Jazz Band will be performing for us in the little Theater at Eisenhower CC.

Program
Mike introduced Megan Collins, the Education Director at Stages Theatre in Hopkins. Megan has been on the staff with Stages for 5 years.
Stages Theatre started in 1984 at Eisenhower Community Center. At that time, it was called Childs Play Theater. In 1997 Stages moved to Hopkins Center for the Arts.
Megan’s first experience with Stages was when she was 3 and had a part in Cinderella. While growing up she took part in about 2 productions per year. Growing up in this environment of mentoring in theater is what pulled Megan back to Stages.
Stages creates 2 or 3 new plays very year. Currently they are working on Newsies, with a full youth cast. This play will show in April and May of 2023.
She loves working with younger students in schools and pre-school. Also, taught theatre at a camp in the woods. She believes theater is a very positive experience for children. It builds self confidence and self-esteem. Theatre also teaches empathy for these kids. They have a very open door policy and will go out of their way to get students there.
The pandemic was a scary time for Stages but they reacted quickly and started on-line and virtual classes. They also did some outdoor performances.
Megan has a lot of energy and passion for children in theatre. She most definitely promotes our club motto of Building Responsible Youth.

Dear Michael Glover,
Thanks to the many Clubs of our District who made last year’s polio fundraising successful. I hope our Clubs will make similar plans this year to earmark that $1500 for polio eradication from whatever club fundraising is done this year.
In July, a case of vaccine derived polio type 2 was detected in the US, just weeks after the virus was detected in wastewater samples in the UK. Polio’s return to areas that had been unaffected for decades, is a stark reminder that as long as polio exists anywhere, it remains a threat everywhere. The re-emergence of polio can be explained by many factors, including vaccine hesitancy and a global drop in childhood vaccination rates. But it’s clear today that no matter the location, anyone not vaccinated against polio is at risk. To prevent further cases of paralysis, high vaccination coverage and robust disease surveillance are key. Fully funding the 2022-2026 Global Polio Eradication Initiative is the best way to protect people everywhere into the future, keeping polio from spreading across borders and around the world. Until we eradicate polio worldwide, it will always be just a plane ride away.
As I have been for the last ten years, I remain at your service for speaking and supporting club efforts to engage members around our flagship initiative, global eradication of polio.

Dear Michael,
Join us for a night of dynamic conversation with Honorable Justice Alan Page. This living legend had a remarkable run in the National Football League as an MVP Award Winner with the infamous Purple People Eaters Minnesota Vikings lineup of the 1960’s. He went on to law school at the University of Minnesota and then to an illustrious career in law. In 1993 he was the first African American appointed to the Minnesota Supreme Court. In 2018, he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor. This recognition is bestowed upon individuals who have made especially meritorious contribution to the United States.
We have planned an evening of lively socializing, entertainment, and education at the idyllic Old Log Theatre in Excelsior. This historic venue is the longest running theater in the United States. This event is part of Rotary’s ongoing commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Our host for the night is Andrew J. Ramirez, a Rotarian from the newly formed MN Pride Rotary Club and District 5950 DEI Action Team Chair.

7:30PM CST - Welcome Remarks from Rotary District 5950 District Governor Lloyd Campbell. Our District Governor Lloyd Campbell will share with you the vision he has for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within Rotary and the monument
8:00PM CST - Veteran trial attorney Doug Schmidt of Schmidt and Salita Law Firm from Excelsior Morning Rotary Club will lead a question-and-answer style discussion with Honorable Justice Alan Page. The topics will represent a broad range of topics, including diversity as it relates to educational outcomes, diversity as it relates to the law and educational inequities, success stories from the Page Educational Foundation and audience submitted questions.
This event is a fundraiser for the Page Educational Foundation. All proceeds will be donated to this exceptional nonprofit organization. The Foundation's goal is to encourage, motivate, and assist Minnesota's students of color in the pursuit of post-secondary education, and, in the process, change the future. The Foundation achieves that goal by doing two things. First, by providing financial assistance to students pursuing post-secondary education. Second, and most important, by requiring its Page Scholars to work with young children, kindergarten through eighth grade, specifically in the area of education.
This will be a cashless event. All ticket options, meals and drinks must be purchased in advance of the event. Prices include all gratuities and taxes.
Zoom Video Stream: Enjoy this Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion event from the comfort of your home or anywhere else with an internet connection. This event will be simulcast live via Zoom. This option is complimentary. Login details will be provided after registration. Price: Free
Attend the Discussion: Experience this event live at the historic Old Log Theatre. Attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions to be part of this engaging conversation with Honorable Justice Alan Page. There will be no food or beverage service with this ticket option. Price $50
Equity Option:Attend the Discussion in-person: For persons interested in attending this program without the financial means, we are reserving 15 complimentary tickets. Limited to the first 15 registrants. We will also include one beverage ticket. This is based on the honor system.
Cocktails and the Discussion:This trendy option is for those who enjoy mingling with a menagerie of like-minded individuals with an open bar, featuring a selection of beers, wines, cocktails, and nonalcoholic beverages. Attendees will then attend the signature Discussion with Honorable Justice Alan Page in the historic Old Log Theatre. Price: $100
Dinner and the Discussion: This option includes an elegant, seated dinner at the on-site restaurant, Cast and Cru Restaurant. Meal options include Salmon, Beef Short Rib, or a Vegan Seasonal Vegetable Medley. Two glasses of wine will be included, and nonalcoholic beverages are available.
