During this 1 year term, she has already vistied 33 club meetings, generally going to 3 clubs per week
Rotary Inter’l under President Gordon McInally. Area of focus: “Create Hope in the World”; Empowerment of women and girls; Emphasis upon continuity between years: Eliminate Polio globally (10 cases in 2023);
Two new things: promoting peace and mental health. mphasis on everyday actions promoting peace. Mental Health, surrounds us.
Gordon personally touched by the issue, as his brother took his own life. If given a public platform he promised to peak and bring mental health issues into the open; Improve access to mental health services.
District (65 clubs) Focus: Promote unity year to year; emphasis upon chain of succession.
Julie gave a callout to Alexa who is the glue to the organization.
4-Initiatives; New Member orientation to pilot spring of 2024; Linked In training to develop professional quality profile (“Staying Engaged” Zoom training, providing deep dive into various topics: ie Club Runner, Rotaract… Register on district website)

Julie Grey’s Bio. Grew up on dairy farm in Lakke Holcombe, WI, middle child, blessed with 2 older and 2 younger brothers. Attended the Uof M. Worked at Chevron and at an airline prior to its getting acquired by Delta. Got law degree in employment and employ benefits law. She sits on the employer side of the table. HR Departments: small to mid-sized counselling not litigation.
Travel (hobby): project in Haiti, Antarctica, Churchill Manitoba watching polar bears migrate, etc.
Why Rotary is important to Julie. Rotary Values and her own align. The overlapping of her own values. Initially she was an attendee, over the 18 years become a Rotarian. Encourage us all to become Rotarians.
What instigated her becoming a Rotarian, what happened? It was gradual. Service Projects helped her to see that Rotarians weren’t just nice. They were kind. Especially the international projects.
Julie would desire us all to be the beneficiaries of Rotary, taking part in the Service, Fellowship and Friendship.
Julie’s Ask: Membership, ask others to join us: invite to service projects, invite to various social events, weekly meetings.
The Rotary Foundation (TRF). District grant money comes from TRF at the club level. Marinates for 3 years and then 50% goes to the District.
