Our August 21 meeting will be at our normal meeting place, and not “off campus,” as we had originally planned.

Also, Rotary will have a booth at the Minnesota State Fair, and there is a special event on Aug. 30^th.

We had two very interesting Vocational talks given by club members Roger Johnson and Sara Edwards.

 

Roger Johnson grew up in St. Louis Park, and graduated from high school in 1965. He then went on to the U. of Minnesota’s School of Architecture, and has had a rewarding career as an architect ever since. Now semi-retired, he enjoys doing small-scale design projects at modest prices for friends and others. For decades, Roger was heavily involved in a wide array of architectural design projects involving hospitals, schools, private homes, and high-rise buildings. Many projects have been here in Minnesota, but also in a number of other states throughout the nation. Over the course of decades, Roger witnessed many changes in the field. Like other businesses, architecture has become more high-tech and computerized, but there are worries that this progress has come at the expense of reduced creativity and imagination on the part of architects. Roger was our club’s President during the ’13-’14 Rotary year.
