President Chris Carr called the meeting to order.

Our guests were Vikki Getchell from The Science Museum of MN, and Paul Babcock from the MacPhail Center for Music.
Invocation
Our Invocation today was given by Bob H. He reminded us of the meaning of the words, Invocation and Vocation. Invocation gives direction in our voice, whereas Vocation gives direction in our actions. Ask God for wisdom to help our club achieve our goals through our Invocation and Vocation.
Pledge
Lenny N. guided us through the Pledge of Allegiance.

Cathy C. reminded us to protect and promote the brand of Rotary, Service Above Self.
From Cathy C. - The Rotary Brand
The Rotary brand, with its trademark wheel and Service Above Self motto, was identifiable to many long before the term ”branding” became widely used. Today, technology presents opportunities as well as challenges for organizations to establish and maintain their identity, so it is more important than ever that Rotary clubs throughout the world work to promote and protect the Rotary brand with consistent messaging.
A brand communicates instantly who we are as an organization. It begins with the logo but goes beyond that. The brand of Rotary is the message of what we stand for – our knowledge, our commitment to the community, our expertise in solving social issues. It identifies us to the local community and connects us with our local and global partners. Our brand represents our reputation. And we must use the correct one, which changed back in 2013. Our brand drives membership, membership drives donations to The Rotary Foundation, the Foundation funds projects that create and strengthen interest in Rotary – it’s all connected. Visit the Rotary Brand Center on line – from logo pins to bumper stickers, and everything in between they help us tell our Rotary story.
Announcements
Ron U. - his committee are working on a package of events for Fundraising, they are looking to bring in a comedian, magician, and chef. More information will be forth coming. Ron is asking for donations to pay for the magician, his fee is $300.
Lenny N. - said we have raised $1,957 towards our goal of $3000 for Polio Plus. The Rotary Club presented the Minnetonka Rotary Foundation with a check in the amount of $8500 from the Spring Golf Tournament fundraiser.
Pete G. - announced that it was Ann W.’s Birthday.
Nancy D. - announced the Minnetonka Foundation approved a grant to the MacPhail Center for Music. Paul Babcock accepted the check on behalf of the MacPhail organization.
Happy Bucks
Mac H. - said checks are coming in. Happy Bucks is $81 behind from last year, please continue to be generous. When sending your check, be sure to indicate if Happy Bucks or Polio Plus.
Bill S. - wished Ann W. a Happy Birthday.
Frank B. - was happy for all the scouting treats that he bought and ate from Nolan.
Allissa O. - wished Ann W. a Happy Birthday.
Lenny N. - wished Ann W. a Happy Birthday.
Ann W. - is very Thankful for her friendships through Rotary and Thanked everyone for their kind words and song.
Chris Carr wished Ann W. a Happy Birthday and acknowledged that it was Plaid Day. He said he is “trying” to grow a Tom Selleck mustache. He is hoping it will help him train for the upcoming 5k he is planning to run with his daughter. He is also happy for the wreaths he has in his office and at home.
Bob H. - said Happy Birthday to Ann W. and reminded the club that Ann was the fifth President of our Club.
Program
Vikki Getchell told us about two programs at the Science Museum of MN, Justice Freedom School and Full STEM Ahead. The mission of the museum is to Turn on the science, Inspire learning, Inform policy, and Improve lives.
A Stem Social Justice Freedom School was formed this past year in conjunction with the City of St Paul City Charter school. The focus is to work with students in science and teach leadership. Prior to having to shut down the in-person class because of Covid, students worked with the teachers each morning on reading, writing and math and in the afternoon focused on STEM/science. At this time, instruction is on-line.
The Museum is creating a Best Practices report on student learning that will be published and shared with educators. The Museum is building on their success, they are searching for funding so they can continue to grow and improve.
Because of Covid, the Museum is temporarily closed, they will re-open as soon as they are allowed.
It was a great program, Thank You Vikki for sharing your time, and Science Museum for all you do.

Join Rotary District 5950 leaders for a mid-year update and a learning event featuring Santa Claus (and his delegates)! Santa's busy season will be over by January 16, so the jolly old fellow (and his guest speakers) have agreed to join this zoom meeting and share Santa's successful leadership secrets with District 5950 Rotarians. This event provides a quirky, easy way to remember the foundations of great management. You will learn how to create a happier work or volunteer experience by following Santa's easy-to-follow management coaching principles that include choosing your reindeer wisely, sharing the milk and cookies and being good for goodness sake.
Don't miss it - or you may find a lump of coal in your stocking next year !

Please welcome to District 5950 the newest members to our Rotary family, the newly chartered 46-member Rotary Club of Network for Empowering Women! It is the first Rotary club in the world to focus on this specific cause. The members of this e-club come from Connecticut, Minnesota, New Jersey, Ohio and Virginia. In addition to being diverse in geographical area, the members are also diverse in gender, race, age, profession and religious belief.
The charter event includes special guests Holger Knaack, President Rotary International 2020-2021 and Suzie Howe, Rotary International Director 20290-2022 Regions 32 & 36
