SERVICE PROJECT RECAP
Thank you to our volunteers who helped at the The H. O.W. Center!

The Action Lane of the Rotary Club of Beaumont was hard at work on 9/14 supporting the HOW Center’s new expansion project. The mission of the HOW (Honesty, Open-Mindedness, Willingness) Center is to provide a safe and structured living environment for individuals recovering from addiction while they gain the skills they need to live independently and successfully. Rotarian Daniel Jeans is the Executive Director of the organization.

Amanda L Ellis led a work team of Rotarians to install six miles (or so it seemed) of wooden fencing for an overflow parking lot. This project will complement the construction of a new housing complex of the center which is expected to be completed in early 2025.

PROGRAM REVIEW
September 11, 2024

Freddie Willard
Executive Director
Beaumont CVB
By Joanne Brown and Tim Sudela

Freddie Marie Willard, Executive Director for the Beaumont Convention and Visitors Bureau, was the guest speaker at the September 11 meeting of the Rotary Club of Beaumont. Ms. Willard oversees and provides the direction for all Beaumont Convention and Visitors Bureau projects and promotions.  She works in conjunction with the City Manager and the CVB Advisory Board to ensure the purpose and mission of the Beaumont CVB is fulfilled.

With 32 years of experience in the meetings and tourism industry, Ms. Willard provided an overview of the economic impact that tourism provides to the area.  Supported by the Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT), the Beaumont Convention and Visitors Bureau staff helps to market the Greater Beaumont area to organizations planning an event. The CVB can also help you plan a family reunion.

Tessa Myers, Director of Sales for the Beaumont Convention & Visitors Bureau introduced Ms. Willard, Jacqueline Gunner, Sr. Human Resources Generalist, City of Beaumont delivered the invocation, Cindy Cherry, 2020-2021 President of the Rotary Club of Beaumont led pledges to the American and Texas flags, and Rebekah Maxwell, 2023-204 President introduced meeting guests and two visiting Rotarians.
