Many members consider this traditional meeting to be one of their favorite programs. We come together to hear about and celebrate the many Rotary projects and programs which recognize and celebrate the next generation of Rotarians!
Members will hear about the activities of the Interact Clubs we sponsor. The Monsignor Kelly High School and the West Brook High School Interact Clubs have both planned a fun presentation to tell you of the many accomplishments of the year. And this part of our program will come with a special announcement or two!
And it will be award time! The Youth Service Above Self Award recipients will be named and recognized for their contributions to the community. They are a diverse and inspiring group of young people, and we are delighted to be able to recognize the next generation of service-minded individuals.
The announcement and introduction of the two recipients of the Rotary Scholarship will be made at this time and they will each share a little about his/her higher education goals and future aspirations.
It will be a great celebration of Rotary Youth! Don't miss this opportunity to be proud and inspired by them!

LOOK WHAT'S AHEAD!
On May 3, Chris Hebert, TropicsWatch Manager for StormGeo, Inc., will again join us to give an update on what to expect in the 2017 hurricane season. He has information on a new tool meteorologists will be using this season. Thanks to Vernon Pierce and Entergy Texas, for bringing Chris back to give Rotarians this insight.
OnMay 10, we will enjoy a presentation by Dr.
Ken Evans, President of Lamar University and fellow Rotarian, about the great things that have happened at our University this academic year and what is still ahead!

Time for Some Grillin' and Fun!
The Spindletop Club and the many youth drivers are revving up the engines and getting cars prepared for the annual Soap Box Derby on May 6 and 7!
Members of our club are helping by serving breakfast and lunch for workers at the event. This is a great time and enjoyed by everyone who has the opportunity to work. We have a number of volunteers already signed up and eager for the weekend, but more are always welcome!
We send wishes for a quick recovery to our friends and fellow Rotarians who have been ill, had or are facing surgery, or just need our thoughts and prayers.

When William Grace arrived to Beaumont in August of 2009, he was pleased to be at a location where two things he loved, history and genealogy, were in place. With new management in place, the space was being reorganized and made more user friendly. Moving the collections to better spaces created a much easier to utilize system for records being kept at the Tyrrell.
With the reorganization of the library, management was in the process of dealing with technology changes which would render the library a presence on line. The Tyrrell Historical Association was presented with a plan to develop a web page and electronically transfer items in the archive area. The Association accepted the challenge to raise funds for this major project to assist with online research. In 2011, the portal site opened and the web page collections began. Today the site has grown and there are 73 digital collections.
Transferring the archives and historical data to the portal was a monumental task. Once items were scanned into the system they were moved to an Amazon site for storage.
Today the library averages 600-1000 people a month online and 250 people in the library in a month. In the library, there is a wealth of material of a rare nature, much of it in a fragile state that requires careful handling. Many of the files are handwritten. There are 10,000 volumes in the library, most of it dealing with genealogy. There is also a microfilm library available.
The library is listed in the Texas Archival Resources and can be accessed online for books and an online catalogue.
