The development and growth of LIT under President Paul Szuch cannot be overlooked. The accomplishments have been significant and noteworthy.
As he begins retirement and says final farewells to Lamar Institute of Technology and Beaumont, Rotarian Paul Szuch will reticently share some reflections and thoughts on his ten-year tenure and significant accomplishments.

WHAT'S AHEAD!
On July 27, we will welcome Jason French from Cheniere Energy again to update us on the LNG facility in Sabine Pass. Jason will have much to share as we first learned about the project in 2013.
Mike Vaughn, Vice President, Transmission Asset Management at Entergy Services, Inc., with be our speaker on August 3. He will speak about Entergy's transmission and substation system which stretches across four states.

District 5910 Governor

Gig Langston is the 2016-2017 Governor for District 5910. He has been a member of the Angelina club since 2001.
DG Gig stated that many things in Rotary are changing and the most recent change came from the Council on Legislation with regard to clubs being able to govern themselves to suit their members. Total worldwide membership has been 1,200,000 for the past decade with very little growth.
To combat this, RI has decided to give each club the authority to decide what is best for that club. Examples include choosing when and where to hold meetings (hotel ballroom or local bar?), participation and attendance can be extended to social gathering, online meetings, and can even be reduced to twice per month and membership can be labeled as honorary (non-active). Some clubs are establishing satellite clubs that help build membership for one club but may meet at a different time and in a different location.
Gig made a great presentation and it was nice to be chosen as one of the first clubs to visit in his Rotary term.
