International Women's Day

This was a very special Beaumont Rotary Club meeting as we celebrated “International Women’s Day”!
The meeting was called to order by President Michael Perez. Invocation was given by Jacqueline Gunner; pledges to the flags was led by Gigi Mazzola; and John Lee welcomed the many guests by having all of them stand as a group.
Lynn Castle was called to the podium to make a special announcement regarding a District Recognition. Lynn was pleased to announce Rebekah Maxwell as being added to the District “Hall of Fame” Award and presented her with a beautiful bouquet of yellow roses. Rebekah will be presented as a Hall of Fame recipient at the District Conference in April at Palestine, TX. Rebekah then went on to make an announcement about “Executive of the Year”.
Instead of the usual head table seating arrangement, Howell Furniture provided fashionable sofas and chairs for a cozy area for a panel discussion that was managed by Diane Thompson. Virtue Alexander was chairman of the committee for “Celebrate Women’s Day”. Virtue introduced four special guests from the community, Felicia Young, Emily Ross, Sade Chick, and Rita Hurt. The panelists shared their insights on mental wellness, women in the workplace, financial planning, etc. An entertaining and enlightening discussion was presented and enjoyed. Virtue concluded the special portion of today’s meeting by presenting her committee with gifts and offering door prizes. Pretty floral centerpieces were distributed as door prizes by Lee Potter and Paul Koester.
Michael Perez brought the meeting to a close by leading a recitation of the 4-Way Test. Other members who contributed to today’s meeting were: John Rollins working the registration table, Lee & Terri Potter distributing flowers and tickets, Jeff Beavers and Jacques Gagne selling meal tickets, and Larry Beaulieu assisting Mikayla Bourque with IT duties and many members participating via Zoom.
The next meeting of the Beaumont Rotary Club will be Wednesday, March 12th at noon at the Elegante Hotel.
