No, you aren't seeing double! There are TWO flags to remind you that we have TWO days quickly approaching when we need volunteers for the "Show Your Colors" flag project - June 14 for Flag Day AND July 4 for Independence Day!
We need you! Please let Pat Anderson know if you can work one or both days.
There is not a meeting at the Elegante on Wednesday, June 28.

DUES INVOICING AND THE BILLING CYCLE
Rotary operates financially at the club, district, and international levels and dues support the work done at each level. Dues are billed to the individual at the club level, andthe club pays District and International dues on behalf of every member who is on the membership roster on January 1 and July 1.
In order for the club to pay dues to Rotary International and District 5910 on July 1, each member must be up to date on his/her dues to the Club no later than July 1 and January 1.
In order to make it as convenient as possible for you to submit a timely payment, the Board of Directors has requested that the invoices be sent to members 30-45 days in advance so that each member has adequate time to budget for the expense, process payment, and assure that the invoice is paid by July 1.
You should have received your invoice electronically on May 16. If you have requested to have a printed copy mailed to you, it should be received within the week. Please phone the office or email admin@beaumontrotaryclub.org to request a different method of billing or payment.
If you wish, you can submit your credit card information to be kept on file so that payments are processed for you in advance of the deadline.

Did You Earn Perfect Attendance?
It is always a very special day when we have the opportunity to recognize club members for contributions to the successes of the year. President Ted will present awards and recognition on June 27. He will also recognize those who have earned Perfect Attendance for the year either through meeting attendance, and eClub makeup, serving on and attending committee meetings, or attending a makeup event.
Did you submit a makeup for every meeting you missed? Do you know you can see your attendance report on the ClubRunner app?
If you have not downloaded the CR app, do it now and/or get assistance at the next Rotary meeting.
As we assure that no one is omitted in the recognition process, please help us by reflecting on the year (July 2016-June 2017). DONE IN A DAY PROJECT!
Before the afternoon rain came, the Rotarians who volunteered for the Habitat for Humanity project on Saturday, June 3 made amazing progress on a new home in north Beaumont. Headed up by Cindy Cherry, the group donned hard hats and got major structural work done!

H.O.W. Center Fundraiser Also to Benefit Polio
While serving as Rotarian of the Day, Dan Jeans told of an upcoming fundraiser for his agency, the H.O.W. Center. They will be having the 2017 H.O.W. Center Annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 10 at Bayou Din Golf Club.
In addition to helping the agency, the H.O.W. Board has decided to give a donation of 5% of their income FROM ANY ROTARIAN to The Rotary Foundation for End Polio Now! That's right! If you indicate you are a Rotarian, whether you are registering as an individual or a team, or agreeing to be a hole sponsor, they will give a 5% donation to End Polio Now! Splendid idea, and we are grateful. Register now and make sure you indicate you are a Rotarian.

"Beaumont and Southeast Texas:
the Economic Forecast"

Our speaker today was Regina Lindsey, President and Chief Executive Officer for the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce . Regina was introduced by Tim Sudela. Regina was formerly Mayor of Silsbee, and is a Certified Economic Developer.
After completing almost 2 years as CEO and President, Regina stated that the Chamber was and is very busy.
In her presentation "Beaumont and Southeast Texas: the Economic Forecast," Regina talked about the following:
Economic Development Council Regina announced that the Economic Development Council is now headquartered at the Regional Planning Commission.
Business Retention and Expansion (B.R.E.) BRE is a project/program that gets the Chamber of Commerce and local retailers, manufacturers, and industry, making assessments of business/industry forecasts regarding the vision of these entities, as well as the retention of project and business expansion for Southeast Texas, including Workforce Development needs. BRE assigns teams to these businesses, identifying sectors, issues, planning and needs.
The "Retail Apocalypse" Sounds treacherous! Yet that is how E-Commerce is being described regarding its impact on "mom and pop" business enterprises and the retail climate in general. Nationally, 14 major retailers have announced bankruptcy in 2017, surpassing the entire 2016 year. 840 stores have announced their imminent closing, while on-line businesses continue to grow considerably.
Hosting A South East Texas Legislative Economic Summit The idea of having a local Economic Summit, with Legislators and Staffers, at a time when legislators are NOT in-session in efforts to share our business needs and concerns with them is brilliant. It is in the planning stages and she invites collaboration.
Regina suggests everyone get up-to-date with the TCEQ regarding Judge Jeff Branick, the BP Oil Spill case, and Governor Abbott. This includes the artificial reef and the tourism marketing grant. She referred Rotarians to the website www.restorethetexasgulfcoast.com.
