Click HERE to continue and to download a Member Proposal Form.

Join us for rehearsal!!
Would you like to be a part of the Rotary Holiday Chorus? Once again Rotarian Dr. James Han has graciously agreed to direct the 2023 Chorus which will perform at the Holiday Party.  He is picking some great music.  Don't miss out on the fun!  Join now and invite family and friends too.

If you know of others who enjoy singing and would want to join us, please invite them. They don’t have to be Rotarians to participate.  (Maybe they will be inspired to join the club if they enjoy it!)

The next rehearsal will be
Monday, November 13, 7:30

PROGRAM REVIEW
November 1, 2023

Trudie Leblanc-Harris, M.S.
IDD Crisis Intervention Specialist
2024-2027 Rotary Years
Spindletop Center
By Chris Ayers

Trudie LeBlanc Harris has been a Crisis Intervention Specialist at the Spindletop Center for 8 years and spoke to our club about her role and how it helps our community. She primarily works with and helps people with IDD – intellectual and developmental disabilities. While there are certain limitations for people with IDD, they are more alike than different. People with IDD can be self-sufficient, college graduates, employed (many work at banks, cafes, and community centers) and married. Like everyone, individuals with IDD like to visit with friends and family, travel, go to movies and go on dates.

The Spindletop Center works with community outreach to educate the public about its services including assistance with people with IDD. They also regularly work with law enforcement to train them on proper techniques and teach them to be patient, ask certain questions and remain calm in dealing with people who are autistic or have down syndrome. Most importantly, people with IDD deserve equal treatment and respect.

Thank you Trudie for your time and education presentation.
