"Rotary Club of Roatan, Honduras"

For many years, our club has assembled and given away newborn baby supplies, layettes. This year, the hospital that traditionally distributed our gift was not available to help and the layettes were sent, instead, to Honduras. The program Wednesday, November 30 follows these layettes on their journey from us to the people who are using them and tells the story of how our layette project has become a service project and not just a gift of useful newborn supplies to deserving mothers.

SALVATION ARMY RED KETTLE PROJECT

Thank you to those of you who have already signed up! There are still slots available from 2:00-6:00 p.m.

Every year, nearly 30 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army in the form of meals, shelter, after-school programs, job referrals, youth shelter intervention programs, rehabilitation services, and more. The gifts you help collect through the Red Kettle will enable these local Salvation Army programs and services to continue providing help and hope to those in need.

For a number of years, the Rotary Club of Beaumont has been one of the many organizations that tend a booth at Parkdale Mall and participate in the collection process. It is a demonstration of "Service Above Self."

Andrew Edwards is Chair of the project and is asking YOU to volunteer to help this year. Please sign up for the hour(s) you can help on Saturday, December 10. We need volunteers.

Sign up your spouse or a friend or two to work with you, and if the sign-up form does not allow enough room, phone the Rotary Office (409-842-1913) and ask that the number of spaces be expanded for your family or small group. Thank you.

ROAR

ROAR is a program through Beaumont Independent School District. Since our club partners with Martin Elementary, we would love to support those students and help bring their reading scores up through this great program. Typically, once a week the ROAR volunteer will go to the school where a student will meet with you to read a book. This helps them have one-on-one assistance and boosts their confidence in their ability to read. If your schedule does not permit you to drive to the school, zoom options are available as well. If you would like to help with this program, please click the link below. A ROAR liaison will call with a start date.
