The Board approved taking part in a project in December with the Rotary Club of Port Arthur and the 100 Black Men of Greater Beaumont to assist with the Enterprise Empty Stocking Fund distribution on December 6-9. Details to follow.
The Board of Directors meets monthly and the meetings are open to all members. If you would like to attend, please make a reservation in advance with the Executive Director.

The N.E.S.T. is finished and ready to open for the children of Martin Elementary to begin to use! This will expand the learning opportunities for the children enormously. We are excited and can't wait to see them enjoying it. Come join us as the door is opened for the first time. All are welcome!

If you are doing holiday shopping, you are surely hearing that familiar sound of bells ringing at the doorways of businesses. That's right, it signifies that the holidays are upon us and that the Salvation Army has started their "bell-ringing" campaign!
Every year, nearly 30 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army in the form of meals, shelter, after-school programs, job referrals, youth shelter intervention programs, rehabilitation services, and more. The gifts you help collect through the Red Kettle will enable these local Salvation Army programs and services to continue providing help and hope to those in need.
For a number of years, the Rotary Club of Beaumont has been one of the many organizations that tend a booth at Parkdale Mall and participate in the collection process. It is a demonstration of "Service Above Self."
Jacques Gagne is Chair of the project and is asking YOU to volunteer to help this year. Please sign up for the hour(s) you can help on Saturday, December 11.
Sign up your spouse or a friend or two to work with you, and if the sign-up form does not allow enough room, phone the Rotary Office (409-842-1913) and ask that the number of spaces be expanded for your family or small group. Thank you.
It's going to be a "Holly Jolly Holiday Party!" Come join in the fun for the traditional Club celebration, hear the announcement of the President-Nominee, enjoy some holiday tunes and sing along with the Rotary Chorus under the direction of Rotarian Dr. James Han. The aroma of a delicious buffet dinner will fill the Art Museum of Southeast Texas, and the cash bar will be well-stocked!
Reservations are required before December 9th. The cost is $45 per person, and spouses and/or significant others are invited as your guest. What's a Rotary Holiday Party without some gift giving for those less fortunate? This year, the planning committee has selected to support the shelter residents of Family Services. Gift suggestions are:
Girls: bath stuff, perfume, makeup, mirrors, purses, sleep shirts, jewelry, small handheld games (under $20)
Boys: balls, action figures, small handheld games (under $20), the "Five and Below" store headphones, speakers, drones
Moms: soft blankets, robes, slippers, cute nail care items, shower gels and lotions

Rotary After Hours on Thursday, November 18 was really a special event!
Rotarians gathered at JW's Patio and enjoyed the casual fun gathering with members of the Young Professionals Organization honoring those selected to 40 Under 40 this year. Delicious appetizers where thoroughly enjoyed with much appreciation to Rebekah Maxwell and ReStep Marketing.

On November 17, 2021, Rotary celebrated twelve inspiring members of our community who demonstrate service above self in their daily lives. Each was honored as a recipient of the 2021 Vocational Excellence Award.
Shannda Howard, nominated by Jay Wilson, was recognized for her sincere dedication to help people find long-term gainful employment, including a man with a dire need for work after being displaced from his home by Hurricane Nicholas.
David Chancey, nominated by Tish Cornell, was celebrated for his positive, contagious energy and the daily kindness he shows to his customers at Sonic.
Kevin Reed, of Reed Realty Group, nominated by Amanda Ellis received recognition for his many service projects for Rotary and participation in other community projects and groups, including, Flags, Sea Rim Striders, and Chamber of Commerce.
Next, Misty Matthews, of Classic Chevrolet, nominated by Pat Anderson was recognized for her phenomenal service to her customers, showing courtesy, efficiency, and kindness to all customers of Classic Chevrolet and helping them to stay safe on the road.
Catina Musgrove Jackson and Dr. George Thomas, in memoriam, nominated by Cynthia and Michael Wolf, were celebrated for their exceptional medical care. Both were described as having consistently provided top notch medical care, honesty, friendliness, compassion, and hard working. Dr. Thomas, who recently passed away, was recognized for always taking wonderful care of his patients. Catina continues to demonstrate service over self, taking care of sick family and working overtime to complete necessary tasks.
Colby Tristan, nominated by Dana Timaeus, was recognized for his brilliant IT skills, as he saved the day for Dana after Tropical Storm Imelda flooded Beaumont, when he showed up quickly to Dana’s office with the equipment needed and had Dana’s law office up and running in under two hours.
Next, Matthew Bloodsworth, nominated by Sheree Pierce, was celebrated by his hard work ethic, holding down two jobs, and almost never missing a day of work. Matthew never turns down a task and always puts himself out into the public to advocate for people with intellectual disabilities.
Vaughan Ploeger, nominated by Diane Bass, was celebrated for her blue chip management skills in running a center to assist men restart their lives after hardships. Vaughan, who helps manage a sober living center for men, is always enthusiastic, positive, and she operates the center in a manner which fosters dignity and respect for all.
Jennifer Carreon, nominated by Bobbie Applegate, was recognized for her first class multi-tasking skills. Jennifer, who works at Two Magnolias and now AMSET, is brilliant at making sure guests are happy, food is good, decorations are perfect, and that everyone around her is enjoying themselves.
Next, Jimmy Champagne, nominated by James Broussard, was acknowledged for his wonderful management at Market Basket. Jimmy always makes an extra effort to know his customers by name and to specifically help them find an item when necessary, always making his store a welcoming place to all.
Thomas Ashworth, nominated by Lynn Castle, was celebrated for his wonderful support to the City of Beaumont and AMSET. As a Project Planner for Beaumont, Thomas, has been a huge advocate for AMSET, serving as the point person for Lynn. Thomas takes fantastic care of the museum, going the extra mile to locate no-cost or low-cost repairs for AMSET.
